This is the horrifying moment a London bus smashed into a car carrying a baby and pushed it hundreds of yards down the street, as passengers pleaded with the driver to stop.

Terrified passers-by and passengers screamed in horror as the Aldgate-bound bus smashed into the car and pushed it down Lower Clapton Road, before driving away without stopping.

The car was shoved into other vehicles in front in the incident, which saw two people injured. Eyewitnesses said passengers were yelling at the driver to stop, but he didn't until he was much further down the road.

A baby was said to be in the back of the crumpled car, shown being hit by the bus in dramatic footage which emerged on Twitter.

Police were later seen speaking to the driver, but it is not yet clear why he collided with the vehicles or failed to stop. Transport for London have launched an investigation to establish the circumstances.
