Murder Of Auchi Poly Student, Miss Lawrenta Apaume Uloko-a Call For Justice: 5:15pm On Nov 10 Students’ Union Government (SUG), Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi, Edo State. 6 th November, 2017. The Honourable Minister, Federal Ministry of Education, Federal Secretariat, FCT-Abuja Sir, THE GRUESOME MURDER OF AUCHI POLYTECHNIC STUDENT, MISS LAWRENTA APAUME ULOKO – A CALL FOR JUSTICE. Introduction; You may recall that the Students’ Union Government of this institution has in a publication on the Vanguard Newspaper of 30 th October, 2017 complained to the Honourable Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu to come to the students’ aid and prevail on the Acting Rector of the Institution, Dr. Sanusi Momodu Jimah to withdraw the heavily armed hunters, thugs and the military men from the 195 Battalion Barracks,, Agenebode from the campuses, where they shoot at students from close range while whipping them like animals. The Acting Rector had on the 9 th of October, 2017 brought in the heavily armed hunters, thugs and military men with over five (5) Armored Personnel Carriers (APC) to the institution, following a peaceful protest by the students over the “No SUG Election, No Examination” notice issued by the students to the management of the institution. These armed gunmen unleashed mayhem and serious torture on the students. The Students’ Union Government President was beaten into a pulp and taken away by the vigilante and hunters to the police station. what a modernized apartheid regime.? WITHDRAWAL OF THE MILITARY MEN AND THEIR ARMOURED PERSONNEL CARRIERS. Following the students outcry on the social media and the organization of press conferences at the NUJ Secretariat in Benin City, Edo State and the support from different interest groups, the Acting Rector, Dr. Sanusi Momodu Jimah stylishly withdrew the military men and their ammunitions from both campuses of the institution, leaving the heavily armed hunters and thugs under the aegis of Auchi Vigilante group to continue their nefarious activities in both campuses of the institution. THE INSTITUTIONS PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER (PRO) MR. MUSTAPHA OSHIOBUGIE AND HIS PATHOLOGICAL MENDACITY Mr. Mustapha Oshiobugie, the PRO of the institution had on different occasions as directed and instructed by his principal, the Acting Rector, Dr. Sanusi Momoh Jimah, refuted our overwhelming fact- filled claim in both the print and electronic media. It is very shameful, disappointing, disheartening and worrisome to note that Mr. Mustapha Oshiobugie and Dr. Sanusi Momodu Jimah, PRO and Acting Rector respectively of the institution, who are supposed to be fathers and uncles to children like us, can be so mendacious to the Federal Government of Nigeria, especially the relevant agencies who would have swung into action to prevent Dr. Sanusi Momodu Jimah and his blood-thirsty hunters and thugs from killing the Nigerian Students like Rabbits, Squirrels and Grasscutters OPERATIONAL BASE OF THE HEAVILY ARMED GUNMEN – HUNTERS, THUGS ETC. A particular tree directly opposite the New Auditorium of the institution, few metres away from the main gate was earmarked and graciously allocated to them as their operational base by the Acting Rector, Dr. Sanusi Momodu Jimah, wherein students are molested and whipped like what obtained during the Rewanda genocide “The Hutus vs The Tutsi” or apartheid regime in South Africa. These gunmen had various pseudo inscriptions on their Pick-Up Hilux Vehicles, like Auchi Hunters Association, Auchi Vigilante Group, etc as they brandish sophisticated arms like AK47, Pump Action and Cut-to- Size Double Barrel guns. REDEPLOYMENT OF GUNMEN TO DIFFERENT STRATEGIC LOCATIONS AFTER THE EXAMINATION Upon the completion of the examination which was written by students under siege and palpable fear, one would have taught that students would therefore heave a sigh of relief from the torture and intimidation from these gunmen. To our amazement, they occupied almost every hostel extorting and preventing graduates from celebrating their graduation and freedom from hunters and thugs molestation in Auchi Polytechnic, which is very alien to the institution. They were conspisciously available and well-armed at strategic places with some of them heavily drunk and shooting sporadically into the air. THE TRAGIC AND PAINFUL EXIT OF AN HND II BANKING AND FINANCE GRADUATE BEFORE THE VERY EYES OF HER MOTHER Miss. Uloko Lawrenta Apaume was in the midst of her friends and well wishers celebrating right inside her hostel when suddenly the armed gunmen whom she had escaped throughout the period of students’ molestation and intimidation paid her an unsolicited visit and opened fire on her with a gun suspected to be a Pump-Action. That was the end of Lawrenta as she became lifeless immediately. INSECURITY OF STUDENTS’ LIVES AND PROPERTY IN AUCHI POLYTECHNIC UNDER DR. SANUSI MOMODU JIMAH, AG RECTOR Both the insane and deaf-mute being in and around Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi are very much aware that Dr. Sanusi Momodu Jimah is a major security threat to students and staff of the institution. Apart from the fact that he cannot provide them adequate security which is the primary duty/responsibility of every Chief Executive Officer (CEO), he doubles as the source of insecurity to the entire polity herein. The gruesome murder of a student in 2004 by Dr. Sanusi Momodu Jimah overwhelming records and conniving evidence abound of how in 2004, when he was the assistant Dean of School of Evening Studies, masterminded a similar situation during examination, which led to the death of a final year student of Marketing. This culminated into an uncontrollable violent protest resulting in the destruction of government properties worth millions of Naira, including his personal house at Egelesor in Auchi. That Dr. Sanusi Momodu Jimah is not students’ friendly is an understatement as he lacks the training, intelligence, patient and listening ear to be the head of a Primary School, let alone a Tertiary Institution. STUDENTS DEMAND The Honourable Minister of Education is hereby urged to save the Nigerian Students from the blood-thirsty dentition of Dr. Sanusi Momodu Jimah, by ensuring that the entire Nigerian Students,, especially Auchi Polytechnic Students who are presently bereaved of a promising young Banking and Finance Graduate, whose painful exit is premised on Dr. Sanusi Momodu Jimah’s highhandedness,boisterousness,naivety, cluelessness and ineptitude. Miss Uloko Lawrenta Apaume may have been cut in her prime due to man-made- factors. The question on our lips remains “who knows the next victim”, it may be you, I or even a staff of the institution. In as much as the entire Nigerian Students crave for peace, justice must be applied in its galvanization. The presence of peace is not the absence of war but the presence of justice. We therefore demand the total application of the full weight of justice on those who had a hand in the gruesome murder of Comrade Uloko Lawrenta Apaume, either directly or indirectly.
