Job Title: Junior Legal Counsel/Legal Assistant

Job Purpose: To support the Deputy Legal function of the branch office and the General Counsel at the Head Office

Duties:
1. Provide support and assistance in maintaining Company’s corporate governance requirements
2. Draft routine and complex legal documents,including ancillary transactional documents, nondisclosure agreements, minutes, etc.
3. Assist as needed in strategic corporate transactions, including deal document and closing process management, supporting due diligence, preparation of schedules and record-keeping.
4. Handles confidential secretarial and administrative assignments;
5. Keeps department managers and supervisors informed about all meetings, appointments, due dates of reports and other time-oriented requirements;
6. Advise Company on best practice corporate governance requirements.
7. Render legal advice on all legal risk issues such as payment delays, variations of contracts and exposures.
8. Review and opine on policy questions and legal implications of such policies on the Company and its operations.
9. Assist to Provide legal counsel on various legal matters including: oil and gas, general commercial transactions, corporate, banking and finance as well as various other regulatory and compliance matters.
10. Ensure all legal processes are in compliance with Company’s Code of Business Ethics and EHSS standards.
11. Ensure compliance with all regulatory fillings
12. Executing task as assigned by the Deputy Legal Manager

Education:
BA, BL (Masters in Law or equivalent would of advantage). Membership of the Nigerian Bar Association and/or relevant foreign Bar required.

Job Knowledge/Skills/Experience:
1 – 3 Years post qualification experience
Good analytical, interpersonal, communication skills and able to communicate effectively at all levels.
Responsive and sensitive to both business and legal issues.
Able to deal effectively with complexity.
Self-motivated, mature, independent, friendly and practical
