Blogging Opinion Needed Pls. Ideal Salary For A Blogger by ThatCEO: 4:45am On Nov 17, 2017
Myself n a partner intend to launch a news website January next year, I am actually about to pay for a domain n subscribe for a decent hosting company (siteground) later. I will design the WordPress myself.

Why do I want to go into blogging?

Because I believe all the supposed big players like naij or Linda r not quite good enough. ( I am just trying to use some nice words)

Who do I want to be like?
Huffingtonpost.com

Strongest points.
1.Top-grade Photoshop graphics and Adobe Lightroom for all photos. I am yet to see a Nigerian website with great graphics.
2. Foreign bizarre news.
3. Various forms of Rankings (already prepared a list enough for 1 year)
4. Freebies (how tos) in PDF.
5. Sexuality section (these kinds of stories sell)
6. Site load speed of under 2 seconds, I don't intend to bug this with too many ads.

Blog PROMOTION:
1.Fb Ads: I intend to run FB ads and reach at least 1M readers in the first 3 months. If things move fine, I will be willing to reach even more people
2. Putting contents on Twitter, IG, Nairaland front page, Linda Ikeji,
3. Launch an Android App after 3 months which will be built inhouse (I have a friend who teaches webdesign in a university, I have a another guy who knows anything about Android).

Resources for writer(s)
1. Premium Proofreading software to check your English.
2. Premium Re-writing software to "shut-up" bloggers who cry their content is copied.
3. Premium plagiarism checker software (just in case).

My roles
1. Oversea what writer is doing.
2. I don't intend to be part of the news team.
3. My job is ensuring things are running smoothly on the back end and SEO is strictly adhered to.
3. I will provide valuable contents for the freebies to drag in readers.
4. I will provide contents for the rankings section.

What I need from a writer?
1. 700 posts per month. Around 200 words per post for 80% of the post.
2.Good English, and ability to craft great headlines.
3. 6 months guaranteed contract for the right candidate.

Questions?
1. How much is a fair salary for such writer?
2.Should I hire 2 writers instead of one?
3.Writers r expected to buy data from their salary n no excuse of NEPA will be entertained.
4. Any other advice.
5. I want to be fair, but I must stick to a budget can pay and I don't intend to owe anyone, n I can't overpay. But I intend to review salaries upwards III find things go well.

Target after 6 months
Be among the top 50 most visited sites in Nigeria.

Opinions pleasesssssss
1. Is this even a good business model?
2. What are the things I am missing that should be covered?
3. What is the best advice regarding the writer salary n how do I go about recruiting the right candidate who doesn't give excuses?

Thanks all.

Having the writer to pay for data outta his/her salary is an outright bad move, if you demand no excuses.
