Senator Ibikunle Amosun, the Executive Governor of Ogun State, has assured that the agricultural sector in the state would receive more attention than any other sector in the state come 2018.
He stated this stated while speaking at the treasury board meeting on the 2018 budget held at the Obas Complex, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Abeokuta.
Amosun said the ministry of agriculture will receive a huge budget proposal in the state 2018 budget estimates, adding that agriculture will define government activities next year.
According to him, agriculture has shown with all its value chains that it can provide employment, eradicate poverty and above all lead to economic diversification and industrialization of the state.
Governor Amosun, therefore, thanked the ‘State Team Agric’ for showing and displaying ‘Ogun Standard’ in all their activities adding that more is expected from the team led by the commissioner for Agric, Mrs. Adepeju Adebajo next year.
Adebajo, the Commissioner for Agriculture in her response, appreciated the state government for her commitment to agriculture saying that the sector is capable of diversifying Nigeria’s economy from its mono-economy.
She reiterated that the state government is not only resolving to increase agricultural production but also to ensure food security in the State,
South-West and entire nation as a whole.
