JACK SPARROW for me too!  Verbal Kint from The Usual Suspects is also an epic and memorable character.  Then we have Tyler Durden from Fight Club. And Lisbeth Salander is one of the most memorable female protagonists I think (from the Millenium films).  These characters aren't necessarily likeable - but they're awesome.

Characters I really like though: Spock from Star Trek.  Agent J in Men in Black. Mr. Darcy from Pride & Prejudice Severus Snape from Harry Potter (my favourite Harry Potter character by far - he's so deliciously evil )
