There was pandemonium in Oke-Ira, Ogba in Lagos on Friday when a man simply identified as Johnson allegedly stabbed the owner of his wife’s shop, Chief Muideen Adekanmbi, to death.

While sympathisers were still attempting to rush Adekanmbi to a hospital, Johnson reportedly stabbed himself also to death.

Johnson was a resident of 26A, Salifat Abioye Street, Oke-Ira, Ogba.

An eyewitness told our correspondent that trouble started when Johnson and his wife, Kikelomo, were engaged in a domestic scuffle in the wife’s shop not too far from their residence.

He was said to have injured Adekanmbi’s two wives while they were trying to settle the disagreement.

The landlord reportedly rushed home when he heard about the incident with the aim of confronting his tenant’s husband.

He was said to have been stabbed immediately he stepped into Johnson’s house.

Confirming the incident to our correspondent on Sunday, the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, Mr. Frank Mba, said Adekanmbi was stabbed while he was settling a domestic dispute between Johnson and Kikelomo.

Mba said that Johnson, who was described as Adekanmbi’s boy having served him as a bus conductor for many years, accused the chief of always taking sides with Kikelomo whenever they had dispute.

He confirmed that Johnson stabbed himself shortly after stabbing his wife’s landlord.

The police spokesman added that the two men were rushed to the Lagos State Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, where they were both confirmed dead.

He added that while the corpses had been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary, the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti Street, Yaba, had commenced investigation into the case.

He said that the police would question some eyewitnesses, including Adekanmbi’s two wives, with a view to ascertaining the circumstances surrounding the incident.
