Executive Director, National Film and Video Censors Board(NFVCB) sits in on HOMEVIDA 2017, Nigeria Integrity Film Awards.

HOMEVIDA 2017, a platform promoting positive values through film, held it's 8th edition of Nigeria Integrity Film Awards December 2,2017.

The ED who has been very active in being responsive to his duties ever since he assumed his appointment in April,2017 was very much present for the event.

Ever-constant with lecturing on 'values' to best shape Nigerian youths who were also very much amongst attendees, Alhaji Adedayo Thomas made very good use of his keynote address which was indeed very impactful given the fact that the night was hash tagged HOMEVIDAIMPACTS.

It was an event that engaged attendees with the viewing of Man in the Mirror, Dilemna, Gana Street League respectively by Titi Akinsanmi, Lead, Public Policy and Government Relations, Google. USG Representative and HOMEVIDA 2017 Script Workshop.

The platform which currently gives awards in two categories; Short script writing competition and Feature film category, awarded Wives on Strike by Omoni Oboli for Feature film and Silent Tears by Ishaya Bako for Documentary film.

Having been possessed with the interest of being in the know, on what has been happening and what would happen, Godfreytimes spoke with Ugochi Ekwueme, Communications Lead, for HOMEVIDA, gladly she said that; homevida is a platform that has been created to train or encourage young script writers to write movies that promotes positive values and we have been doing that now for the past eight years and this is actually the 8th edition.

"I mentioned earlier, during the event, you would see that a lot of people who have passed through homevida have actually now moved on to do greater things."

"Like one of our winners that we just saw now, Ishaya Bako, who started making homevida films first and now he has been making movies that are being shown in the international film festivals and making movies that actually win awards in this festivals ."

"We also have peole like Chris Odeh, who was a winner in one of the platforms and now he is the one who actually produces homevida short films."

"He actually produced two movies that we saw here tonight and thats what we want to do."

"We want to move people from the level they are in and take them to a higher level."

"Provide them that platform where they can start, startup to do greater things."

ON THE BOARDS RELATIONSHIP

The National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB)'s support has been good. they have been strategic in a way that strikes to better understand the potentials that lies within new digital platform. It's relationship with Homevida has been good in a way that they have been able to support new and upcoming artist who are able to tackle relatively difficult projects...ofcourse like every other organisation there are amazing ways they could actually better position itself in the regulatory and also space, embracing the existing platforms that speak to how institutions directly can self-regulate as well and bring its workers into the digital century as well. we are looking forward to ways that the nfvcb would be able to embrace and approach that and also partner with a whole lot of the likes of Homevida as well. PARTNERSHIP WITH THE BOARD

We have been partnering with the nfvcb for as long as homevida has been in inception and nfvcb has provided that support when it comes to identifying those movies that have those kind of messages. so for example,when we need to nominate our feature films, initially it started that way, nfvcb will tell us okay look, you know,they advise us , they actually act as the advisory board when they let us know that this film is in the same criteria that you are looking for, why don't you take a look at them, they take us towards that angle. we also work with nfvcb on a different level when it comes to training the young children, the children in secondary schools on being safe on the internet and that's actually part of the Google funded project that homevida has been part of...so yes nfvcb has provided support in so many ways and we are glad to be partners with them.
