Pastor Tunde Akinyemi, Director of Operations for Africa, Kingsword Ministries International, has urged Nigerians to join hands in building a united nation to attract more development to the country.

Akinyemi spoke at a news conference to herald the forthcoming Supernatural Convention of the church and 20th anniversary celebration, at the Nigeria headquarters, Oregun, Lagos.

The convention tagged ‘’On Eagles Wings: No Ordinary Fight’’, is scheduled to hold from Dec. 10 to Dec. 17.

“I think government, churches and every Nigerian have roles to play in nation building; I believe as a church and as a faith-based organisation, we are definitely involved in solving Nigerians’ problems.

“Through ministering the gospel, we get them to walk closer with God and I think these are ways churches could help solve the problems of Nigerians.

“The solution would be everyone should play their part — government, churches, every Nigerian citizen should play their part. “The simple truth is that we are all part of the problems, but most important, we can also be part of the solution. “I think rather than pointing fingers or doing the blame game, we should be encouraging everyone to do the part they can to help solve the country’s problems,’’ he said.

The cleric commended the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government for the achievements recorded in the fight against corruption in the country, and urged Nigerians to collectively join him in doing so. He said that all Nigerians, not just politicians, need to be accountable, to rid the society of corrupt tendencies.

“I think corruption is the major problem of the country; the present administration made that a major political campaign. If we can curb corruption in Nigeria, it will be taking a step in the right direction in solving our problems,” Akinyemi said.

He urged the three tiers of government and wealthy Nigerians to empower the less-privileged to make them productive in the society. “The church should take up social initiatives by feeding the poor and empowering youths by giving some of them scholarship.

“I believe that if everyone is involved, it would reduce the problems and make Nigeria a better place to live in,’’ he said.
