This writing on the BBC news site about burials in Ghana makes a good read.

it has a link to an old piece about relatives burying their dead in coffins that look like beer bottles - to signify a drunk, hammer-like coffins (to reflect trade) and coffins that look like the bible, (well for a "churchous" relative). See link below. Very unusual and somewhat amusing stuff.

is there any interesting fact about burials in your culture (or any culture) that you would like to share? Make we gossip about them here,

You could talk about the preferred day for burial, for example, or anything at all,  Feel free to post.

I agree with that article 110%,Ghanaians love funerals.
In Igboland, ppl are not buried in certain days of the week or better still in some great mkt days but it varies community by community.
Wake-keeping are not held for the unmarried in Onitsha although on the day of the burial youths go round the village chanting war songs.
In some parts, its forbidden and not allowed for a father/mother to see the corpse of the son/daughter.
If a youth dies suddenly or his folks suspect foul play,he/she is buried with stuffs like broom, cutlass etc.The general belief is that he/she wud go hunt out and kill those that killed him with the cutlass and with the broom wud wipe away their generation from the earth.i dont know if it works undecided
