Although it is still some weeks before the gala night but we must be frank with ourselves.

Below are some of the reasons why the Egyptian Messi will win the top prize.

■ FORM : It's always important to hit form at the right time and the name on many lips is Salah.

The Egyptian Goal Machine has been in awesome form and it helped in convincing the fans Worldwide to Vote him as the BBC African Player of the Year.

Form is temporary, Class is permanent they always say but form can earn someone a Golden recognition.

■ STEREOTYPE : The North Africans are more United when it comes to something like this.

Morocco, Tunisia, Libya, Algeria, Sudan and Egypt will Vote for Salah.

Francophone Countries might share for Sadio Mane, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Salah while the Anglophone Countries like Ghana, South Africa and Zambia are not going to Vote for Victor Moses due to deep mysterious rivalries with Nigeria.

■ GOALS : The most important part of football is putting the ball at the back of the net.

Some federations will Vote for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang based on the fact that he scored 30goals in the German Bundesliga Last season forgetting his zero stat with the Gabonese Senior National team despite hosting the African Cup of Nations.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are ruling the World for over 10years with Goals.

■ PLAYING POSITION : Average club football followers consider Victor Moses as a defender following his heroic campaign with Chelsea football club last season in the English Premier League,FIFA 18 further stamp it by rating the 27-year-old as a defender and the last time a defender earned a significant recognition was when Fabio Cannavaro won the FIFA World Player of the Year in 2006 after leading the Azurri of Italy to FIFA World Cup Glory.

The Confederation of African Football[CAF] might also not want their pride of 365days to be considered a defender by the Football communities outside Africa.

■ NATIONAL TEAM PERFORMANCES : Playing and helping Egypt to a second place finish at Afcon 2017 is an advantage for Mo Salah over any other contender while he also scored five times in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers with further two assists for Egypt against Victor Victor with three goals and two assists for Nigeria.

Salah was also named in the Afcon 2017 team of the tournament while he was also named alongside Victor Moses and Sadio Mane in the Russia 2018 Qualifiers Best Eleven.

■ NO SPECIFIC CRITERIA : The African Footballer of the year winners have been voted for over the years by various federations with no specific criteria to choose especially in Afcon tournament years where you expect the winners to be the most exceptional players.

■ POPULARITY CONTEST : Some lowly rated countries are just there to follow the trend, some could easily be bought over while others with long way to go in terms of understanding of the round leather game will just go for face and we should also understand that Samuel Eto'o,Yaya Toure and Emmanuel Adebayor have all benefited from it over the years even when they don't deserve to take it.
