England football association has confirmed Three Lions will play a friendly game with Nigeria at the Wembley Stadium as part of its 2018 World Cup preparation.

According to report Super Eagles will be one of two opponents for England, the other liable to be against Latin American team, before they leave for Russia.

It included that the English Football Association want the Three Lions to play African opposition ahead of next summer World Cup group opener against Tunisia in Volgograd on June 18.

While a large portion of the preparation will be done at St George's Park, the England boss is yet to choose whether the team could benefit from a couple of days together abroad.

All option are as yet being considered, with England having to be in Russia now under five days before their first match.

The English FA will make an official declaration once their second June friendly has been affirmed," the paper said.

In the wake of playing the two friendlies, Gareth Southgate and his squad will travel to Russia and to their training base in Repino, a town north of St. Petersburg, towards the Finnish outskirt.

Nigeria had earlier secured a friendly game with Poland on March 23 date, which is also one of the teams that qualified for the World Cup.

Super Eagles mentor, Gernot Rohr had prior expressed that playing the Eastern European nation was key for Super Eagle's quest for a win in their Group D 2018 World Cup opener against Croatia.

Nigerian Football Federation general secretary Mohammed Sanusi stated: "We intend to play a friendly game against England in June, before the World Cup."

Sanusi included the venue and different points of interest of the game were up in the air.

The Super Eagles, overseen by German Gernot Rohr, start their Group D journey against Croatia in Kaliningrad before confronting Iceland and Argentina.

Captained by ex-Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel, Super Eagles squad is set to include Premier League stars, such as Kelechi Iheanacho, Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi and Ahmed Musa.

The Three Lions has met Nigeria twice before, winning 1-0 at Wembley in 1994 and sharing the spoils 0-0 in Osaka during the 2002 World Cup.
