Bsc Or Bsc(ed) Which Is Better In Pursuing A Lecturing Career. by ejehijustice(m): 10:23am On Dec 30, 2017
Good morning house.
I am contemplating between going for BSc Mathematics and BSc(Ed) Mathematics in National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) as I am a working class and I won't be chanced to go to a regular university. My dream is to become a university lecturer.
Lecturers, counsellors and educationist in the house can help me pls as I would love to make an informed decision. Thanks...

. Well, I am not a lecturer but from the little I know, I feel it's better for one with (E.d) to go into lecturing. You would have undergone a process of becoming a teacher. As such, you are equipped with vital skills a teacher require and would be able to effectively and consciously pass knowledge using certain teaching methodology.

B.Sc without education is better based on what I have seen and known. There are some courses that do not have education, which makes it practically Impossible for a B.Ed graduate to lecture in such departments and although a B.Ed graduate can lecture in some many departments e.g Mathematics but I believe a B.Sc graduate will always be more preferred to a B.Ed graduate any time, any day. Unless you want to teach in primary/secondary school, pls go for B.Sc.

Even as a student, B.Sc students always feel superior to their B.Ed counterparts.
