Contrary to the thoughts and ideas that Christianity is divided by denominations, the denominations are different part of a single body (The Church).
Each denomination has what it supply to the body of Christ. Each has their mandate (assignment)
What God want to acheive with each denomination is different. By bringing all together, we will then have a well equipped and balanced Church.

Some Churches are:
1) Faith based
2) Leadership Oriented
3) Prophetic
4) Deliverance
5) Word based

Each denomination doing their thing is a blessing to the entire body, as each one does deep and concentrated study on his mandate.
No true Church is Isolated as messages and teachings from one denomination flows to the other. Just like the human body with many parts, each part has it's function and each joint what it supplies, but all work together for good to the advantage of the other. Having two right legs in a body is very odd.
It is also a way God moves on with His work when some resist Change and new of God

The function of the Holy Spirit is stated very clearly in the Holy Scriptures:
Joh.14:26
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, He shall teach you all thing, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said to you.

Joh.16:13
Howbeit when H,e the spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into into all truth: for He shall not speak of himself; whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will show you things to come.

With these Scripture we know some of the function of the Holy Spirit:
1) To remind us about what we have been taught.
2) To teach us.
3) To tell us whatever Christ is say to us: as individual or as a Church.
4) To show us things to come: vision, dream,trance, revelation of the word.
5) To guide us.
6) To defend us: as a comforter. Ecc.4:1

There are many causes to getting contradictory messages. God is not an author of confusion. Without assumption, some of the causes are:
1) If it is a person that claims to have gotten the message from the Holy Spirit, he might be
a) He might be intentionally lying for a purpose.
b) he might be working with a familiar spirit.

2) If the person is faithfully praying to God, then it could be:

a)not hearing clearly: This happens when a message comes and you are only able to hear part of it. some people end up filling the space by themselves(assumption)

b) People receive a message and deliver their interpretation of the message instead of the real message.

3) Human spirit: Some people hear their own spirit give them words. It is sometimes accurate.

4) Unclean spirit: this sometimes interfer and speak to people.

In which case, all denominations should be based on the single, undiluted word and there should be no contradictions. Instead, what we see are not just denominations passing contradictory messages but sometimes actively fighting against each other.
