Before today our forefathers lived longer, healthier and happier lives even though they did not have all the good things life presents today. This was not because they ate natural unprocessed foods as many people wrongly think. The reason is because they had less anxieties in their lives as common with us today.
The effect of modern day civilisation on our mental, emotional and spiritual lives is truly alarming. The impact of our mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing on us cannot be over emphasized and renowned doctors have stressed that more people fall ill due to psychological stress acquired from their day-to-day activities.
We are living today in a dynamic world moving at such a speed that is overwhelming. Men everywhere are trying to catch up with the speed and an inevitable psycological stress is created if success is not in view.
In the face of growing commercialism and advances in technology, everyone wants to have more and more than the other man. Contentment is now old fashion. People are under the pressure to be rich and important. The love of many have waxed cold as the Bible rightly says about this time.
What is the effect on the life of the person that allows the craze to catch up on him? He losses vital energy that should sustain him in good health and psycological balance. He becomes vulnerable to sicknesses, untimely death and his spiritual life becomes sick as well. Many health challenges today are not because of what we eat but what is eating us.
So what is the solution to this 21st century crisis? The answers are found only in the pages of the oldest book of wisdom ever written, The Bible, in prayer and communion with God the creator of the universe.
We must slow down ourselves from time to time. Withdraw from the business and noise of each day to a quiet place and access the true essence of our being. We must learn to take regular occassions to be still and allow God to fill our consciousness through study of the Bible, meditation and prayer. If we keep drifting with events we will be sabotaging ourselves. We will keep acquiring and not releasing emotional stress built up. Our immune system defense mechanism which under performs under psycological stress leaves us vulnerable to ill health that shows up later in life.
Our forefathers in their days had less worries and anxieties. They lived in contentment and had good and clear spiritual ideals that governed their lives. Even though many of them were not born-again they had a strong touch with nature and God that nourished their minds.
Make a commitment in 2018 not to allow yourself to be driven by the uncontrollable speed of this ever evolving world.
Resolve to get closer to God and the true essence of your life on earth. For in doing this only lies true fulfillment, health and lenght of days!

Happy New Year!

Jesus loves you!
