The Nigerian Army has disclosed that two women out of the seven hundred persons that were recently rescued from Boko Haram insurgents by soldiers have given birth at a military holding facility in Monguno Local Government Area of Borno State.

It recalled that the persons had escaped from the terrorists den, after which they were rescued and received by the army’s 242 battalion in the area, even though before their rescue, the former hostages, including male, female and children, were forced by Boko Haram to work as farm laborers.

The Army stressed that the escaped of the abductees was following a follow-up operation held by the Nigerian Air Force and 38 Task Force Artillery Brigade, 8 Division, Operation ‘LAFIYA DOLE’ recently, in order to exploit the gains of the recent successful Operation DEEP PUNCH 2 in Chikun Gudu and adjourning localities.

According to the military, the follow-up operation conducted was targeted at destroying Boko Haram infrastructure and logistics such as communication centers, fabrication yards, bomb making equipment, vehicles and other means of sustenance, in abid to eradicate insurgency.
