The 5th edition of the CHAN tournament will take place in Morocco between 13 Jan - 04 Feb 2018 after Kenya pulled out of the running earlier. The 16 team tournament is broken down into 4 groups with host country Morocco in Group A alongside Sudan and Guinea.

The Championship of African Nations (CHAN) tournament will make it possible for the debut of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR), CAF announced during the unveiling of the logo upon the completion of the group draws.

The tournament will kick off in Morocco on Saturday January 13, 2018 with the opening game of the campaign featuring host nation Morocco Vs Mauritania by 7:30 GMT.
