WHAT WILL THE NEW YEAR BRING FOR THE IPHONE, IPAD, MAC AND MORE?
2017 was a pretty good year for Apple. The introduced new iPads, the beautiful new iPhone X, the cellular-capable Apple Watch 3, and the all-new iMac Pro. But in the world of tech it’s never “what did you do?” is “what are you going to do?” Luckily for Apple and its fans, 2018 looks to be an even better year for Apple hardware. There are a ton of potential new products the company can release based on pretty solid rumors. We’ve rounded up a list of all the sure things and the less-likely possibilities. Here’s what you might be able to expect from Apple in 2018.
iPhone 9, iPhone X Plus, and a new iPhone SE

Surprising no one, you’ll see new iPhones in 2018. And chances are you’ll see three of them. The newest model is likely to be called the iPhone 9 and will fit in that sweet spot between the current iPhone 8 and the iPhone X. The iPhone 9 is rumored to have a 6.1in TFT-LED display with Face ID. That TFT-LED display won’t be as brilliant as the OLED found on the iPhone X, but it will enable the cost of the device to be more affordable. As for the iPhone X, expect the 2017 model to get a minor spec bump. The big news for the X will be the addition of the X Plus model–a 6.5in OLED phablet. And then you can also expect to see a new 4in iPhone SE with a faster processor and wireless charging.
New iPads

Rumors have it Apple will make two big changes to its iPad lineup. The first is that the current 9.7in iPad will see a noticeable price drop, making the tablet more affordable than ever. But the big iPad news comes from the iPad Pro lineup. Expect it to mimic the features found on the iPhone X, including a near bezel-less display and Face ID. Expect the cheaper iPad this Spring with the new iPad Pro launching in September.
Apple HomePod
No surprise here, Apple will finally release its own smart speaker. The company first announced the HomePod last summer and it was supposed to ship in December. However, at the last minute, Apple delayed the launch date, now saying the Siri-enabled Amazon Echo competitor will be released in "early 2018."
AirPower and new AirPods

The AirPower is Apple’s wireless charging mat that can charge up to three Apple devices at a time (like your iPhone X, Apple Watch, and AirPods. The accessory was announced in September with only a “2018” release date mentioned. As for new AirPods, consider them a given since they are still selling out everywhere. What could the new AirPods offer? We’re betting longer battery life will be one of the features.
New Macs

Macs didn’t get much love from Apple in 2017–aside from the awesome new iMac Pro. The rest of the lineup only got minor spec bumps–if that. In 2018 don’t expect to see any major changes to the iMac or MacBook lineups beyond minor spec bumps. The one caveat to this is a new modular Mac Pro. Apple has confirmed it is working on a new Pro desktop, but has yet to reveal if it will come in 2018 or if we’ll need to wait until 2019.
Apple Watch Series 4

Apple released the Apple Watch Series 3 in September featuring cellular connectivity. So where could the Apple Watch Series 4 go? We’re better we could FINALLY see a new design as well as a new sensor, rumored to be an EKG.
New iOS, macOS, and Other Software
Expect Apple to unveil the developer preview of iOS 12 in June at WWDC, as usual. There’s no word on what iOS 12 may feature, but many are hoping for the long-awaited dark mode. Also expect small updates to macOS, watchOS, and tvOS.
