Golden Globes Winners 2018: Full List by vicsraelsblog(m): 7:58am On Jan 08, 2018
Big Little Lies, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Lady Bird, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouriwere among the big winners at Sunday’s 75th annual Golden Globes — a ceremony that will be remembered for Hollywood’s solidarity against sexual misconduct in the entertainment industry and beyond.

The Golden Globes opened with a somber red carpet, where men and women dressed in all-black to support both Time’s Up and the #MeToo movement. Once the show began, the messages in support of women and equality didn’t stop: Natalie Portman, while presenting best director with Ron Howard, noted how only men had been nominated (Lady Bird filmmaker Greta Gerwig was a high profile snub); presenters Jessica Chastain and Geena Davis, respectively, also made jokes about male acting winners giving their salary away to make up for the gender pay gap.

In the night’s most stirring moment,Oprah Winfrey accepted the Cecil B. DeMille award by giving a rousing speech, calling out sexual harassers around the world: “Their time is up.”

As for the competitive awards, HBO’s Big Little Lies (which was positioned in the limited series categories) won
four awards, including honors for stars Nicole Kidman, Laura Dern, and Alexander Skarsgard. Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel won best comedy and best actress in a comedy for star Rachel Brosnahan. The Handmaid’s Tale also won two awards, including best drama and best actress in a drama for Elisabeth Moss.

On the film side, the Golden Globes kicked this year’s awards season into higher gear by anointing Three Billboards as best picture drama, while also awarding its stars Frances McDormand and Sam Rockwell with honors. (Director Martin McDonagh also won best screenplay). Lady Bird won best picture musical or comedy, with star Saoirse Ronan taking home best actress in a musical or comedy.

Other film winners included Guillermo del Toro (best director forThe Shape of Water), Allison Janney (best supporting actress for I, Tonya), Gary Oldman (best actor in a drama for Darkest Hour), and James Franco (best actor in a comedy forThe Disaster Artist).

To donate to the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund, which will provide subsidized legal support to women and men in all industries who have experienced sexual harassment, assault, or abuse in the workplace, visit its GoFundMe page.
