Tires are obviously a very important part of your vehicle. After all, your car wouldn’t go anywhere without them! Because they are so heavily utilized, they will wear out over time. However, there are measures you can take to lengthen the lifespan of your tires. One of the best and easiest ways to do this is to have your tires rotated.
Why should you rotate your Tires?
Weight is distributed unevenly in cars. As a result, some tires carry more weight than others, and will wear out at a quicker pace. When you rotate your tires it gives the tires carrying the heaviest weight a break and helps the tread wear out evenly.
There are several advantages to rotating your tires at the appropriate times. Rotating your tires can help:
• Even out the tread wear on your tires
• Keep your vehicle's handling balanced so it won't start to "pull"
• Maintain traction
In addition, when your tires wear out at the same pace, you can eventually purchase a new set of four tires, rather than buying them in pairs. This makes it cheaper and more efficient for you.
When to Rotate Tires?
Some tire warranties require that your tires be rotated at specified mileage markers, so be sure to check your tire warranty for the appropriate times to rotate. Apart from that, it’s generally a good idea to get tires rotated every 5,000 to 7,000 miles, or whenever you start to see visible signs of wear. A good rule of thumb to follow is to rotate your tires every other time you bring your car in for an oil change.
An auto technician can also test your tire balance, tread depth, and examine for any damage.
