Policeman Kills Son Over Missing Money by Rickyrick: 1:15am On Jan 09, 2018

A police sergeant, Oludele Olosunde, allegedly beat his son, Ibukun Olosunde , to death at Rasak Okunola Avenue, Ijagemo, Ijegun area, Lagos state.

The policeman was said to have buried the body of his 17-year-old son at the Apapa cemetery.

The son, Ibukun was sad to have just gained admission into the university (Olabisi Onabanjo University)and was prepared to resume as a fresher on the 8th of January 2018 before his demise.

Oludele, whowas working at the Kirikiri Police Division , accused Ibukun his son for stealing N2,000 on Tuesday January 2nd 2018.

During the evening hours, he allegedly beat his son in their apartment, asking him to confess.

Ibukun who was rushed to a nurse in their area after collapsing was later taken to a medical centre for a better treatment.

He died on the way to the medical centre and was confirmed dead at the medical centre.

The police were signalled by a neighbour in the area and the suspect was arrested after locking himself up in his house on Wednesday.

The suspect’s neighbour said:

“The boy was the first of four children. His mother was not around when it happened. I think she travelled. The father said he was looking for N2,000 and said the boy took the money, which he denied”.

“Thatevening, when the man returned from work, he saw the boy outside and grabbed him by the hand. He took him inside the house and asked him to say where the money was. He started flogging the boy, who cried for help. The man flogged him until he went into a coma.”

Another neighbour said the auxiliary nurse referred the boy to a medical centre in the neighbourhood because of the gravity of his injuries.

The boy was buried by his dad after he was confirmed dead. He wanted his neighbours to keep quiet about the incident, but a neighbour alerted the police and he was arrested.

A cleric on the street said the suspect was arrested by the Isheri Osun policemen division.

A friend of the victim said:

“He had packed his things and planned to resume on Monday (today) before this incident happened. Unfortunately after his death, the man found the missing money”.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Chike Oti, confirmed the incident, adding that it was a case of manslaughter.

He said:

On January 3, 2018, at about 4pm, information was received that a man killed his son and took away the corpse. We learnt that he returned to his house on Rasaq Okunola Street, Ijagemo, and locked himself inside. Detectives raced to the scene and arrested the suspect”

“Upon interrogation, he said his son, Ibukun, stole his N2,000 and when he questioned him, he ran away. He said his son fell on a septic tank slab in the process and injured his head, but later died in a hospital while receiving treatment”

“He said he took the son to the Apapa cemetery for burial. Investigation is ongoing into the case”.
