JAC Strike :varsity Students Groan Over Effect by Otunbalarry: 1:05pm On Jan 12, 2018
Students across various Universities in Nigeria have continued to complained over harsh learning conditions they have been exposed to, due to the current strike embarked upon by the Non-academic Workers in Universities.

This is coming as the striking workers have vowed not to return to work claiming that they are yet to hear from the Federal Government after their December 19 meeting on issues arising from allocation of Earned Allowance released for University Workers last year.

For instance in Obafemi Awolowo University, Students have complained severely of the Current lack of electricity in the Academic area of the University and the shut down of the University Library making reading impossible with examination in the University set for January 29,2018.

A student who identified himself as Ayomide spoke with Education Herald, he opined that the hardship has made learning more difficult “We cannot read well due to absence of electricity in our Academic area, we now rely on lamps and it has not been helpful”

In Obafemi Awolowo University for instance, the Non-academic Staffs have refused to resume with major activities of the University still shut.

Same can be said of Universities that have commenced examinations like University of Ibadan with some students who pleaded anonymity saying that absence of the Non-academic Workers has made things not too easy.
Recently there were averted crisis in University of Nigeria and host of other Varsities occasioned by the current strike by NASU, SSANU and NAAT.

The public Relations officer of SSANU told Education Herald that all those who resumed already are trying to circumvent the Non-academic Workers strike, a move that would not succeed.

There are high expectations of resolution of the crisis soon although the Federal Government has not said anything in this effect.
