Commercial/microfinance Bank Marketing Job. Take It Or Leave It? by AOMP: 1:21am On Jan 14
Hello nairalanders, can someone give me reason(s) why some people turn down marketing jobs in either commercial or microfinance banks.
I have a friend that work in the commercial bank as a marketer for almost 2 years now and his not dead. I also have one in the microfinance bank as a marketer for over a year now and is not dead.
I know that every jobs comes with their challenges too but when you are out of job for so long, bills keep on pilling, no other alternatives and someone offer you a marketing job in either commercial/microfinance banks what would you do? Take the job or leave it?

Simple answer. People do because of the meagre salary been offered by most of the banks l. The last time I checked Sterling Bank pays Direct Sales Agent 25k before commission @1k per 1 million. Stanbic Bank pays 25k. No career progression. No salary increment. And yet you will be ask to meet a 4 million naira Threshold. You don't expect most people to take such.

Nigerian graduates don't like marketing jobs because they want office job only. They want to sit in office, gossip and play around like civil servants do. They forget that sales and marketing is the backbone of any business.

Am a living withness, if you are opportune to be employ as a markter in a very reputable commercial bank or MFB, do it. I was once a marketer and now a full staff, I got my job from God through Naira land from the best mfb in Nigeria. Like my friends first bank and gtbank though the gt is still like a merketer but not complaining, Kudos to this organization as they have made good impact in our lives, recruitment without Godfatherism

Thank you guys, the reason why am asking is that people complain too much about this job and I have friends doing it and they are not dead. Infact I have one brother in my area and his a marketer in one of d microfinance bank...anytime I ask him how d job he will tell you my brother e no eazy o....and his 7months on d job already yet the bros no quit.
I think people that are complaining about this job have someone to lean on...they have someone that will cook rice for them even if they don't work.
suppose they have nobody, bills to pay etc, I think they will take the job without even thinking twice.
I had an interview in one of the MFBs last week and some of the applicants said they will not take it if it is a marketing job, and I told them probably you have alternatives or someone to feed you but am going to take it.
What is wrong in doing it and be looking out for other opportunities, every job have their own challenges. This is 2018 no time to waste, before you know it the year will end again.(Take d job and have job experience).
Thank you guys for your contributions. 2018 will favour us.
