You can.
Make sure the current from the solar panels passes through a charge controller.

Sir I have an amorphous solar panel which produces 120v at peak. I installed an mppt charge controller of 50v max and 20amp rating. It blew the controller in minutes. What can I do to step down the voc so as to protect my mppt.

Get a controller that can accommodate 120v.

You can actually modify a solar panel to give around half its rated Voc. If you are comfortable with some basic tools you can do it.
