Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that a transfer deal that will see Alexis Sanchez join Manchester united and Henrikh Mkhitaryan moving the opposite direction is likely to happen.

The Armenian is set to swap Manchester United for the Gunners as part of the deal that will take Alexis Sanchez to Old Trafford.

And Wenger said: “The wages (for Mkhitaryan) would not be a problem.

“This would be an exchange of players and I think one would replace the other. Are we still in the transfer market after that, yes…”

“I have not a lot to add to that. It can happen, it can as well not happen. It’s at that stage, yes,” Wenger said.

However, he downplayed talk that Arsenal were trying to sign Bordeaux winger Malcom, but didn’t comment on speculation about Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Borussia Dortmund striker has agreed personal terms with Arsenal – but has been included in the Bundesliga side’s squad for Friday night’s trip to Hertha Berlin.

And he said there’s still a possibility that Sanchez could play for Arsenal against Crystal Palace this weekend. “If it [a deal] doesn’t happen he will play on Saturday,” Wenger said.

Sanchez has already agreed terms with United and will earn a staggering £490,000-a-week before tax.
