That’s not a lie cos you are allow to switch.
Just do 1 or 2 years pre course and that’s final
Newpride:
Only in nigeria this nonsense happens, in countries like US, Canada, Germany and others...... just have ur five credits including English language, u are qualify to apply for any course, the moment u pass their exams, it shows u know it and nothing more. But here in nija, u must have physics, biology, chemistry, maths and english before u can study medicine, nursing and other courses. It doesn't work like abroad. Everything in nija is Frustrating and life is too difficult.

mathematics is one of the simplest and interesting subject, my besty. If you are determined, u'll understand the subject and wudn't like to do any course outside mathematics. With the listed courses one can see there is life in any course that involves mathematics because i rather go 4 a vocational training than study one of those listed courses. Just come into the world of mathematics, u'll never regret it and it also broadens one's thinking faculty.

YOU BETTER EDIT AND WARN THAT ITS ADVISABLE TO GET MATHS BECAUSE I DOUBT ANY UNIVERSITY WILL ADMIT FOR MASTERS IF YOU DONT HAVE MATHS

Which university will ask you for O'Level maths in NECO or WAEC, if you want to undertake a postgraduate course at Masters' level? Only the CGPA you graduated with, in your bachelor's degree course, is required! shocked

A lot actually. Humans have lived in Africa more than other continents. Excavation in 9ja so far has less than tip of the iceberg. Do you not fancy the chance to see excavation sites in Egypt, Palistine, Israel, Jordan, Iraq in peace time as part of further research?

This is a breach of natural academic standards, no school should admit any student without having at least C6 in mathematics irrespective of whatever the course of study is.
My opinion though...
So tell me the use of maths in English, history, religious studies, philosophy even law.

that's where you're getting it wrong. having the basic knowledge of mathematics is a necessity and not a prerequisite...

Not having a credit in mathematics limits someone so much, you will end up with courses like Igbo linguistics, history, English, mass comm, philosophy, religion and other orishirishi courses.

And what is wrong with the afore listed courses?

Confused people who think Mathematics is everything in life.

What is wrong with the courses?
Are those who studied courses that needs maths doing better than those that studied the courses you mentioned?
What do you understand by the word "limit?"

And what makes you think "Philosophy" falls under that pejorative term of "orishirishi" courses? Desist from drawing ignorant conclusions! That it does not enjoy popularity like medicine or law, for instance, in this part of the world does not depreciate its immense relevance. You can ask google, Philosophy somewhat underpins those highly-sought-after courses, as it provides them a rare means for justifying their existence and modus operandi.

we don't have ancient history...where was nigeria during the AD's and BC's

Who says? That is where we need to do more research. Take Benin Kingdom for example. When the Europeans first came in the 1470s, before America was even discovered, they met a well-organised state with a well established hierarchy, a King, a traditional prime minister, palace societies of chiefs, in charge of about 33 professional guilds of occupation: royal physicians and diviners (Ewaise), Bronze casters guild (Igun n'eronmwon), Wood/Ivory carvers guild (Igbesanmwan), Drummers guild (Ikpemaba), Leather workers guild (Isekpokin), etc.

I have no doubt many other kingdoms across Nigeria had great achievements since antiquity like NOK culture, Igbo-Ukwu, Oyo, Owo, Ife, Kano, Kanem Bornu, Borghu, etc.

So just because we have not studied our history much does not mean there isn't. Imagine a common disease like malaria, we still do not have a vaccine for it. Why? Because it is poor people's (Africans') disease. This is literally what a renowned medical researcher/professor once told me.

We Africans should be researching/excavating our history and researching our diseases. But no, we fail both ways woefully.
