Be it a Galaxy Note 7 or any other smartphone, your smartphone’s battery can explode under certain conditions, such as high temperatures and pressure. But in this man’s case, the battery that exploded in his face has nothing to do with technical failures, but with human stupidity.

A customer at a store in China was looking to buy a replacement battery for his iPhone, and when the employee on duty shows him one, the best thing he could think of was to bite into the battery to test its authenticity, that singular act made the battery explode in his face.

According to Taiwan News, the man studied the battery for a while and set out to check if it was “a real battery” or original by biting it. The pressure on the battery created a reaction that led to a massive ball of fire which engulfed both he and his female companion.

Fortunately, the news platform reported that no one was seriously injured.

There are those who bite gold to verify if it is real, but to do same with a battery is an idea that is not only risky, but stupid.

When they say "Always buy from original manufacturers stores...", they will not hear. Now look at...

An unfortunate man in an unfortunate store biting down on an unfortunate battery resulting in an unfortunate situation. His girlfriend was equally unfortunately present during this unfortunate situation. She would have been somewhere else, but unfortunately, that wasn't the case.

So what caused the explosion?
Can saliva lead to short circuiting?

This is false or make believe.

No, the battery wasn't made well. The explosion is very feasible. Read this, it explains it better.

"When a lithium-ion battery emits charge, ions flow from a (negative) anode pole to a (positive) cathode pole. The anode pole comprises numerous tightly packed graphite and copper plates, while the cathode pole comprises numerous lithium plates in between.
The layers are kept apart by a foil separator. If the anode and cathode poles come into physical contact, the battery can heat up and explode. The thinner the battery, the tighter these elements are packed together" (Mark Sullivan, 2017).

Thus, the act of biting down on batteries causes the positive and the negative poles to make contact creating an explosion. And since the battery is new, the compounds still "fresh", you get a grenade without a timer fuse.
