Ekwueme’s Funeral-ngige, Onu Conduct Oversight Inspection Of Preparedness: by greatestunclebe: 6:43pm On Jan 27, 2018
The Minister for Labour and Employment Senator Chris Ngige walked around the clock to inspect the ongoing preparation of Late Vice President, Dr.Alex Ekwueme today.
Flanked by the Rector of Federal Polytechnic Oko, Prof.Godwin Onu, Ngige visited all mapped out funeral locations, including the family house of the late elder statesman where serious and pragmatic renovations were going on at the time of filling this report. He charged the men who he met on sites to do well and deliver their work as planned as to embrace the on-time principle. The sites he visited with his entourage were Ekwueme’s tomb, pedestrian routs to and from Ekwueme’s compound, Nri-Nise road maintenance point, Agulu to Awka road maintenance point and so many other axis that link to Ekwulobia/Oko.
While responding to questions from the press, Ngige said he was sure that the Vice President, Osibanjo must be present throughout the burial period but not sure if President Buhari would make it. He also maintained that President Muhammadu Buhari budgeted enough for the burial and that the president has not since elected into power, given respect and concentration to any statesman as he has given to Ekwueme.
When asked if he was aware that South-Eastern Governors were mandated to contribute 50Million naira each to support the burial funding, a good looking Sen. Ngige retorted that he was not in the Governor’s committee to know what they planned already. His words “The South Eastern Governors have a forum and already formed a committee to honor the late Vice president. The committee should know better, not me. So I can’t tell.”
He concluded that the burial committee will deliver in its task of giving the Late VP, Dr.Alex Ekwueme, a befitting burial as long as he was in the burial committee set by the Federal Government.
