Every student now find it very convenient to do their registration of courses and other academic stuff online. It would be complete if they are able to get their accommodation online, they should be able to check all available accommodation in their school and off campus. A simple database driven website will be able to accomplish this.

MARKET PROSPECT

The Nigeria student market is currently the largest in Nigeria. Students are the major spender and consumer of Telecommunication services, cloths, entertainment media and others. Building an accommodation search and booking system for them will really be an hit. My thermometer for measuring any successful biz blue print is the million naira bench mark. How easy and fast can one get a million bucks from this business model?

Assuming we charge a regular 10% commission of the annual rentage of the accommodation from the student and also from the accommodation owner, we are most likely to get over N10,000 per successful placement or booking. This means if we are able to cover 10 schools in Nigeria, we should be looking at about 500 student homes every new session.

STUDENT POPULATION

The annual student population admitted in all Nigeria tertiary institution is over 30,000. With proper collaboration with other money thirsty students or individual located close to host institution nationwide, one can effectively cover the entire university in Nigeria from your bedroom or cyber cafe. Assuming we target just 5000 students nationwide, that will net over N50,000,000 (N50million) sessionally. You can afford to pay more student agent or partners with that kind of fund.

COST OF RUNNING AND IMPLIMENTING THE UNI-HOME PORTAL

The main part of this business model is the web portal. The technology must be sound and effective and dependable. There should be a robust search capability and should carry photos of accommodation, location, annual cost and information about the owner.

With this in mind, we will be needing a good hosting services and this will cost something around $15-30 monthly because of the database engine.
