I think 3ds max its easier to start with and harder as u go, while blender is not easy to start with but when u get use to the shortcuts and work flow , blender is Also a great software for modeling and animation! It really depends on ones creativity any 3d software is great and depends on the users creativity..

Nice work.. But your job is too squeaky clean.. Try using brush tools to introduce some grunges, dirts and wear to the material to give it a natural feel.. Good luck
