Arsenal fans leave thousands of seats empty for Man City clash, despite club claiming game is sold out


Viewers were left stunned at the amount of empty seats at the Emirates Stadium during Arsenal's clash with Manchester City on Thursday night.

Home supporters seemingly voted with their feet as they stayed away from the game, just days after the Gunners lost 3-0 to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final.

With the bad weather also playing a key factor in the absences, the home fans who were there witnessed City race into a three-goal lead by half-time thanks to strikes from Bernardo Silva, David Silva andand Leroy sane
But Arsenal claimed it was sell out

Signs outside the Emirates before the match indicated that the match was sold out, even though there were so many seats vacant.

On Sky Sports, pundit Gary Neville said: "There is an objection going on. If they wanted to be here, they would be here."

Gunners season ticket holder Graham Lashwood said: "It wasn't sold out. You could still buy tickets right up until the game.

"I know a load of season ticket holders who weren't going due to snow or train issues, or they just couldn't be bothered as it's cold, it's on TV and City will hammer them again."

And on Twitter the reaction was unanimous.
