This video demonstrates how to bake a fruit cake and the steps taken to preserve it out of the fridge.

Ingredients needed

650g flour
8 large eggs
500g brown sugar
1 tsp salt, netmeg, baking powder, vanilla extract
Liqueur
500g fruit mix

Mix all your dry powdered ingredients together,

Blend the butter and sugar until you get a creamy texture.

Add eggs one at a time fold in flour and add fruit mixture

Add liqueur and vanilla extract


Share batter between two cake tins

Place in a heated oven at 180 degrees Celsius

Leave to bake fo 45mins to an hour

When you take it out of the oven. Leave it to cool down property.

Pierce the top with a tooth pick

Then pour in the liqueur of your choice.

As long as you desir but you have got to make sure that you bring it out at intervals to resoak with liqueur.

Thanks for this. Does this mean that as long as I continue soaking it in rum or whatever liqueur I can keep it for up to 6 months?
