The candidate who has been widely touted to be the anointed choice of the incumbent Governor of Ogun State, the chieftains of APC in the state, as well as General Olusegun Obasanjo, is Honourable Adekunle Abdulkabir Akinlade a member of the Federal House of Reps. representing Egbado South and Ipokia Federal Constituency.
Akinlade who is married to ex-Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria, Chinenye Ochuba is the Deputy Chairman House Committee on Climate Change, Member of the following Standing Committees: Finance, Insurance, Public Procurement, Army, Steel and FCT of the house. The young and suave incoming governor holds a degree in Political Science from Lagos State University. He is an alumnus of the prestigious Lagos Business School (LBS) and John Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, USA. He attended the 2013 Entrepreneurship short study course at the University of Wisconsin USA.

Triple A as he likes to be called cut his political teeth in Ogun State and earned Governor Amosun's loyalty when he was appointed as SSA Taxation & Revenue in July 2011. In this capacity, Adekunle oversaw the Directorate of other Taxes at the Board of Internal Revenue Services (IRS) Ogun State and transformed the Internally Generated Revenue of Ogun State from N700m to almost N4b a month within 12 months.

Adekunle was redeployed in January 2014 to the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development where he displayed exceptional skills before resigning in October of the same year to contest the House of Representatives seat.
The incumbent Governor has convinced the leaders of the party in the state, General Olusegun Obasanjo and other stakeholders that the young man who represents the youths, the new generation and one of the most trusted leaders to emerge from Ogun State to continue his transformational agenda.
Ogun state governorship has been zoned to Yewa in 2019, the zone has never produced a civilian governor and while 4 of the other aspirants have agreed to support Triple-A, consultations are ongoing to get the other 2 notable aspirants who have not publicly retired their campaigns to stand behind the anointed candidate
