*AAUA STUDENTS APPEAL TO MR
GOVERNOR, BEGS ON THE MITIGATION OF
ANY PURPORTED INCREMENTS
By: Haruna Damilola
Dear Mr. Governor
It is with profound sorrow about the
ramification going around the students of
Adekunle Ajasin Akungba-Akoko that I
write this letter to you.
The governor of Ondo state Oluwarotimi
Odunayo Akeredolu Sir, following your
announcement about the increment of our
tuition fee in the last convocation
ceremony of the institution, there have
been a controversies among the students
which warrants this letter.
Your Excellency Sir, we believe in your
proficiency to increase and decrease our
tuition fee, however we plead for our
utmost consideration in your magnanimity
in this decision.
Sir, we are all aware of the fact that AAUA
has the lowest tuition fee among other
states universities, giving the poor the
privilege to further their education hereby
placing the poor, average and the rich on
same stratum. But with the increment, it
automatically separates we the poor from
the rich in the bid to attain higher
learning, which is an exercise of bad omen
in the Society.
Your Excellency, it is quite obvious that
people came from far and near, different
parts of the country, not only because of
the standard of education given to
students, but also the affordable titution
fee is undoubtedly one of the reasons.
However, with the increment of tuition fee,
it will discourage alot of students and
people of love ones from far and near will
no longer have the privilege to attend this
great citadel of learning because many of
us are from poor background.
Reviewing the aftermath of the increment
as written by a very concerned comrade
Kuta, Victor John, it stated that; "there will
be increase in the dropout rate among the
students because, many of us hustle
defying our pain to get educated, many
sponsored themselves to be educated,
even those who are sponsored by their
parents, they only contribute little to it and
with this increment it will only discourage
us. As a result of this, the dropout rate will
increase."
He further stated that "the female students
might take to prostitution" which I count
as an exercise of bad omen also. He also
included in his write-up that they may
become emotionally imbalanced, because
though we are from poor background we
still try to get ourselves educated but our
efforts were frustrated by Government
that ought to encourage us.
Please Sir, in other to avoid the foreseen
aftermath, we hereby appeal to our
Government and the school authority at
large to please ride on our euphemism of
acceptance in their caucus decision .
