The major states of Nigeria which produce cassava are Anambra, Delta, Edo, Benue, Cross River, Imo, Oyo, and Rivers, and to a lesser extent Kwara and Ondo. In 1999, Nigeria produced 33 million tonnes. As of 2000, the average yield per hectare was 10.6 tonnes.

The above needs updating as it is decades old info

In terms of cassava production, Nigeria which is situated in Western Africa is rated as the world's largest producer of cassava, while in terms of cassava exports, Thailand is rated as the largest exporter of dried cassava. The Main producing states of cassava in Nigeria are; Imo, Anambra, Kogi, Cross River, Enugu, Ogun, Ondo, Taraba, Benue, Delta, and Edo, though it can be cultivated in other states of Nigeria but in smaller quantities.

Production Of Cassava Globally:

In 2014, 268 million tons of cassava was produced. The world’s largest producer of cassava is Nigeria with a production of 47,406,770 tons in 2013. With a production of 30,227,542 tons, Thailand follows next. Indonesia (23,936,920) and Brazil (21,484,218) rank third and fourth in the world in cassava production.

While Nigeria produces the most cassava, it has nearly zero value addition to the crop, post harvest. Brazil has some of the best value addition to cassava post harvest, as more than 10 different cassava-based food products exist in that country.

Anyone knows the states where the garri that 22 M Nigerians in Lagos feed on daily comes from

We can hardly accurately tell seeing as we have little to no genuine data collecting strategies.

The 2016 stats show Nigeria imports Garri from India and United Kingdom. The issue you mentioned about value addition is one if our many issues.

Nigeria imports garri from the UK? That data is 100% suspect. I have eat Nigerian garri regularly in my ''abroad country'' (names withheld). It cannot be the other way round.

UK exports Casava according to MitAtlas. Their 2016 numbers said it went to south Africa and Tanzania though.

Cassava or Garri which one?

UK Cannot export cassava because they do not produce it. They can only 'export' garri as a re-export, after it has been re-processed (which means they imported cassava for value addition)

Mitatlas says cassava.

Definitely not raw cassava. They must mean cassava as in garri.
