Grace and Peace to you. Today we're addressing how to overcome seduction, seeing it's one of the traps that has been set on the path of every true Christian, especially the young, single and devoted ones. I believe experience is a good teacher, so I am writing this basically from my experience. This isn't me preaching about myself or trying to look perfect in the eyes of the world. I believe there's need for every Christian to be as transparent as possible and have less of a 'secret life'. With that being said, I hope you're ready... now let's roll.

WHAT IS SEDUCTION?

Seduction from a Christian's point of view is a deliberate attempt to entice someone or enter into a relationship with them with the goal of corrupting and leading one astray from service to God and or relationship with God through sexual activities.

Mark the word "deliberate" because that's always the case.

WHO CAN GET SEDUCED?

Almost everyone (both Christians and non-Christians); cute people and...uhmm(no one is ugly anyway), presidents, Church leaders, business men and women, students, and the list goes on. Once or more in our lifetime, it's likely that someone will show up and attempt seducing us. Be it in the church, in the office, at school or just anywhere, seduction is bound to be attempted on us. And most times that happens unexpectedly.
When someone is bent on seducing us, they don't care about our looks, they just want to accomplish their mission. The enemy came to steal, to kill and destroy (John 10:10), not to look at whether you look cute or not. What he's after is making sure he does what he intends to do.

Some people carry this 'I am not handsome or beautiful enough' mindset, that's actually low self-esteem. They assume that with the way they are no one will get attracted to them, not to the extent of trying to seduce them. But that's not true, it only makes them vulnerable and susceptible to seduction attacks. Such are often caught off-guard, gullible. The first enemy we need to deal with isn't the devil, it's the flesh. Many genuine Christians occasionally abandon the leading of the Holy Spirit and go after the suggestions of their carnal senses, simply because they haven't yet crucified their flesh. There are both immediate and eternal consequences attached! Like some brothers in the faith who have lived to regret choosing a partner because she had curves, and some sisters... because he had biceps. They choosing to ignore the leading of the Holy Spirit and making such decisions based on one of the five carnal senses (the physical eyes) is an indication of the presence of uncrucified flesh. We don't walk by sight! (2 Corinthians 5:7).

THE STRUCTURE OF AN EFFECTIVE AND FERVENT PRAYER

Every Christian knows that they are expected to pray. Many Christians do pray, but yet still some do not get the expected results. I can't deny the fact that there may be many other factors which are responsible for that, but in most cases one can easily trace the cause of such to prayers prayed amiss!

Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

Let's keep aside 'that ye may consume it upon your lusts' to revisit it later.

Prayers prayed amiss are prayers that miss their target. It's like a man going hunting for the first day just after buying a gun the previous day, without proper knowledge on how to aim his shot at an animal. He'll possibly return home frustrated after firing many bullets off-targets in the forest.

I so much love the Acronym P.U.S.H (Pray Until Something Happens). It tells us in a nutshell how the prayers we pray should be structured. It is perfectly okay for Christians who are still new in the faith to pray the way they can and still get expected results, the LORD understands. But such quality of prayers will definitely lack the potency to keep sustaining them as they grow in the faith.

Spiritual growth doesn't only open doors to new dimensions and possibilities for us in God, it also attracts diverse challenges and more opposition from the enemy. During such transitions to higher levels in the LORD, the need for us to add more weight to our prayers can not be overemphasized!

THIS SICKNESS IS NOT UNTO DEATH


The health of Lazarus had got worse and needed urgent action. Mary and Martha were in dire need of the LORD's swift intervention. A message had been delivered to Jesus informing Him of the severity of Lazarus' sickness but the only reply He gave was "this sickness is not unto death..."

This might had sounded as an assurance to the two sisters that their brother was not going to die. I'm sure that they also expected and waited for the LORD to arrive quickly and heal him, but to no avail.

John 11:1-4 KJV
"Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha. [2] (It was that Mary which anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.) It is safe to say that Mary and Martha already found themselves in what we can call a dead situation when Lazarus gave up the ghost. I could imagine how they felt when the LORD didn't show up according to their expectation. Their faith couldn't help their feet anymore and they collapsed to the floor weeping uncontrollably.
