Four persons , including a soldier, died on Friday in multiple road accidents at Nyanya on the Abuja -Keffi road, Abuja. The Public Education Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps , Mr. Bisi Kazeem , said 19 vehicles and a motorcycle were involved in the incident.

According to him, the dead comprised three males and one female, while nine of the injured are males.

He said the accident was caused by brake failure, loss of concentration and speed violation.

Witnesses had earlier told the News Agency of Nigeria that trouble started when the motorcycle rider hit one of the cars, which was being driven by a woman.

“The woman came out of her car and held the motorcycle rider, that he must fix her vehicle.

“During the argument, a trailer, descending the slope on top speed, lost control and rammed into other vehicles held in traffic at the scene.

“The woman, motorcycle rider and the soldier who was there to make peace, died instantly after they were crushed by the trailer,” a witness who identified himself as Osita, said.

According Kazeem, a combined team of rescue personnel from the FRSC, National Emergency Management Agency, Army, police and Lifeline Ambulance arrived the scene four minutes after the accident.

Tragic...Some drivers will be arguing on the road without thinking of their safety. Thou some okada and keke riders could be very reckless I have discovered its best not to create a scene after a light bash cause if you hold them till the next day they might not drop any cash to repair the dent.

My dad always told me to immediately leave the scene of a small accident because usually the same ill fate that caused the smaller one will still be around to cause a big one if care is not taken and from this case I must say he is very right

The woman caused her own death.. how very foolish she is.. my sympathy goes to the soldier that was there to make peace. Why will u cause traffic cos of a scratch? Can't u park at one side and settle the matter rather than causing unnecessary commotion and discomfort to other motorists. The truck driver probably didn't expect traffic ahead of him but she caused traffic. Naija and their annoying mentality

simply avoidable accident, supposing the woman gave clearance on d road and dealth with d stupid okada man by d side they could b alive enjoying themselves by now. what a world

same scenario my brother told me about last week,said he saw a video clip of an accident on YouTube, a street cam took the recordings,same way this one occurred too just different localities,sometimes ignoring wrongs and moving away doesn't depict weakness, it shows strength.....BTW I always wondered why they always choose to stay rooted at the spot,not taking other road users into consideration,if you are hellbent on in for a penny in for a pound, move your vehicle away from the road,park in a safe portion of the road and indulge the beast in you,not endanger other motorists all cuz you seek revenge,or a shallow apology!

This is common in Abj actually...two people will just block major road to cause a scene due to one reason or the other causing traffic congestion..I hope we all learn from this..RIP to the dead
