Don't Ever Promise More Than What You Can Deliver... by PAPAJOSH1(m): 5:14pm On Mar 12, 2018
"Don't ever promise more than what you can deliver, but always deliver more than you promise" - Lou Holtz

Promise is a verbal commitment by one person to another agreeing to do (or not to do) something in the future. It is also related to 'assure' that is, assurance likewise pledge.

From what we have discovered, people do make promises e.g Father to his child, husband to wife, spouse, friends, relatives, even to an unknown person. But most promises made, were out of flesh, some without thinking(giving second thought) while some are not sincere with there words.

At times some people do promise beyond their capacity; they know their weight and height(that is, what they can do). Despise, they will promise beyond what they can not do even in the next ten years. Can we say they are too happy I.e, over-joyous or over confidence or proudness.
For instance, you can imagine a ten years old boy promised to buy a new car; latest model for his friend in the next two weeks (not even talking about toy car and even boasting of buying latest model in town). What is your deduction over that? I guess we have the same conclusion.

Truthfully, the boy made promise but logically, that promise/pledge is beyond his capacity and level. That's why LOU HOLTZ says: "don't ever promise more than you can deliver..." Let's all endeavour to make promise(s) we are able and capable of fulfilling or we are sure to be able to fulfill, so as not to be in debt of promise; 'for promise is a debt.'

LOU HOLTZ didn't stop on not to make promise or promises beyond our capacity, he also attached condition to it; "...but always deliver more than you promise"
What a great advice!

You should always try to deliver more than what you have promised, doing so add more or increases the trust people have in you, your dignity and respect will move forward, you will be worthy, valued, cherished, honoured, exhorted and highly praised; as it shows you are someone of his/her own word(s). People will value and cherish you more and more which will also increases the level of your popularity and the chance of getting helps from others in time of difficulties, challenges and tribulation. For a quote says "whatever you sow, you shall reap" I have changed it into my own taste. Thus, ...you will reap more than what you have sowed and not only you but your people; relatives, family and friends are also inclusive.

Finally, don't ever do things just because you want to take control, overpower or take charge of someone or others; that's for unnecessary glory, but do it with clear heart and mind. FOR THE REWARD IS THERE WAITING FOR YOU IN FUTURE; MIND YOU, THE REWARD IS SURELY AWAITING FOR YOU AND YOUR RELATIVES.

KEYS TO NOTE:
1.) _Do not promise at all if you know you can not or will not fulfill it; for promise is a debt.

2.) _When promising, do not promise more than what you can deliver.

3.) _Always deliver more than you promise or more than what you have promised.
