According to global statistics provided by Coinatmradar.com, there are now close to 4,000 cryptocurrency automated teller machines (ATMs). Additionally, there’s been an extremely large influx of bitcoin cash ATMs over the past year as there are now 1,200 BCH dispensing devices situated around the world.

Indian Government Expects to Finalize Crypto Bill Next Month

The Indian government has reportedly filed an affidavit with the country’s supreme court specifying its advancement on cryptocurrency regulations On Oct. 25. “Serious efforts are going on” to prepare the draft crypto bill and report, the government explained. The two are expected to be discussed by the inter-ministerial committee by next month.

The Indian supreme court has been trying to hear the petitions against the crypto banking ban by the central bank, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).The court particularly asked for a report from the committee set up by the finance ministry to approve crypto regulations. This committee is headed by Subhash Chandra Garg, the country’s Economic Affairs Secretary.

Indian State Working to Help Crypto Businesses Grow

An Indian minister has reportedly disclosed that a state government is working to protect businesses operating without a regulatory framework in India. They include cryptocurrency exchanges and crypto-accepting merchants. The move follows the arrests of the founders of a crypto exchange after they tried to set up an ATM-like kiosk at a local mall.

India’s Social Welfare Minister Priyank Kharge has reportedly disclosed that the Karnataka state government “is working on setting up an Innovation Authority” with the aim “to protect consumer-friendly technology businesses that are operating in regulatory grey areas.

“Technologies are fast changing and our policies are only trying to catch up,” he released the news on Monday. “Instead of banning a people-friendly business on the grounds that the regulations do not allow it, the Innovation Authority would intervene to come up with a fast policy framework.” The minister gave details.

Academic institutions from all angles of the world are offering classes on cryptocurrencies and upholding research initiatives in this burgeoning sector. From New York to Tokyo, universities are spearheading a plethora of crypto-themed courses.

IBM and Columbia University have made known two new accelerator programs for blockchain developers. The programs will uphold 10 different startups, will last about eight weeks, and give each company access to technology and services valued at nearly $400,000. The academic institution and the technologies giant will not seek equity or a payment in return.

The Columbia Blockchain Launch Accelerator is designed for pre-seed idea-stage firms with an affiliation to New York City-based universities. The IBM Blockchain Accelerator is meant for later stage growth firms from all over the world and is aim at enterprise business networks.

Birks Group and its retail stores will accept cryptocurrencies through a partnership with Bitpay. The cooperation marks the first major implementation of Bitpay’s point-of-sale solution for brick-and-mortar locations within the Canadian region.

Korean Lawmaker Introduces Bill to Promote Crypto Trading

A South Korean lawmaker has reportedly brought in a bill to promote cryptocurrency trading and the development of crypto exchanges. In addition to necessity such as capital, manpower, and internal systems, the bill proposes establishing a committee to promote and support crypto trading.

Korean lawmaker Kim Sun-dong, a member of the National Assembly’s Political Committee, made known last week that he has introduced the Digital Asset Trading Promotion Act, local media reported. Seoul Finance elaborated.

He also noted that Japan has already completed legislative procedures to institutionalize crypto transactions and the U.S. has admitted the trading of cryptocurrency derivatives.
