Reasons Why You Should Not Trust The Bank With Your NYSC Allawee by brainyhopel: 2:22pm On Mar 17, 2018
Whenever the month ends and just as youth serving the nation anticipates their allawee, the various commercial banks have all hands on deck, set and ready like a lion, to devour part of the money.

With the kind of alert one get these days, it appears the bank no longer employs competent, honest and trustworthy people. Or maybe the managers are the ones behind what is going on. The deductions or debit alerts from my account isn’t even the major issue. It is surprising how the bank delights in struggling after a meager amount of money with people serving their fathers’ land.

With #0.00 in the account, they will debit you for master card, the same account they still debit you for verve card, then ATM maintenance fee, admin fee, sms alert fee, debit you when you transfer, etc. the fear of bank is the beginning of wisdom, so many think it’s wise to transfer all the money from such foolish and greedy banks to another account with less greed. But in our wisdom they got wiser. They started deducting even when there is nothing in the account. Sometimes one could have -200 naira on the account before the account gets credited.

Then in your anger, you rush to the bank to complain. In a very professional and cajoling way, they give you reasons that will calm you down. Sometimes you could hear statement like “Isn’t it just #50.00”. Probably you tried recharging with your account and you are debited but your phone not credited. You call your service provide and they refer you to the bank which just happen to tell you “it’s just”, as if you stole the money.

As if the deduction from over millions of people isn’t enough, they owe some for a month or two, before paying as arrears. I heard the government releases the money to the bank, but because they are solely after making profit they decide to invest part of the money and then pay some numbers with the rest. But I really can’t tell if the banks do this alone or if they have NYSC officials conniving to make generate money from our allawee, while the victim suffers for that period of time.

Just because they are an important component in the whole banking system and a profit-based financial institution, they choose to do what they wish. Every sector seems to be taking part in corruption including the banking sector. Probably it could be the economic situation or maybe some other reasons of which I am yet to figure out...
