The Ondo state government has debunked claims of an alleged plan to increase the tuition of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko from N40, 000 to N200, 0000.

The Commissioner for Information and Orientation in the state, Yemi Olowolabi, who spoke while reacting to the students’ protest in Akure on Monday, however stated that the tuition paid in the state-owned institutions were no longer sustainable.

Olowolabi assured that Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu will not allow any governing board of the institutions to force outrageous fees on the students.

The government also declared its readiness to pay tertiary institutions’ students of the state origin their outstanding bursary and scholarship this year.

Olowolabi explained that funds meant to settle the student’s bursary and scholarship have already been provided in this year’s budget.

The government spokesperson dismissed insinuations that the present administration in the state was engaging in anti-people education policies.

It's a lie! highest fee in AAUA is 33k and that's for education and science...

The governing board confirmed it that the governor wanted an increase by 500% cause the 26k can't buy shoes..

most of the buildings in AAUA are federal government projects, no state government projects. he only wants to swallow money..

No hike in AAUA tuition! Aketi, leave our school fees alone!

Mr whoever you are... I was with the SUG president and other principal officers in the school and they made it clear that we are gonna pay #200k tuition fee... Even Aketi said it when he came for the university convocation... At least he stopped legacy of free health, free education just to mention a few which was the achievement of his predecessor.... Gov Akeredolu will even boast that he's not going for second term so he will do as he likes
