Our founder John Wesley. Anointed by God Born 28 June 1703 Slept in the Lord 2nd March 1791 A British born into the family of Samuel and Susanna Wesley. He had 19 siblings among which is Charles Wesley a popular hymn writer. Methodism was a movement he started due to his desire to live a holy life and to preach the undiluted good news. He started a club called the Holy club, they met in for fellowship and due to their methodological way of doing things, they were called the Methodist. The seed this great servant of God layed has germinated and grown into a mighty tree with thick branches and roots. I am proud to be in the John Wesley family. Worthy is the lamb! Halleluyah

Christianity was established in Nigeria with the arrival in 1842 of a Wesleyan Methodist Church missionary. He had come in response to the request for missionaries by the ex-slaves who returned to Nigeria from Sierra Leone. From the mission stations established in Badagry and Abeokuta, the Methodist church spread to various parts of the country west of the River Niger and part of the north. In 1893 missionaries of the Primitive Methodist Church arrived from Fernando Po, an island off the southern coast of Nigeria. From there the Methodist Church spread to other parts of the country, east of the River Niger and also to parts of the north. The church west of the River Niger and part of the north was known as the Western Nigeria District and east of the Niger and another part of the north as the Eastern Nigeria District. Both existed independently of each other until 1962 when they constituted the Conference of Methodist Church Nigeria. The conference is composed of seven districts. The church has continued to spread into new areas and has established a department for outreach/evan-gelism and appointed a director of evangelism. An episcopal system adopted in 1976 was not fully accepted by all sections of the church until the two sides came together and resolved to end the disagreement. A new constitution was ratified in 1990. The system is still episcopal but the points which caused discontent were amended to be acceptable to both sides. The Methodist Church Nigeria (MCN) has been at the forefront of spiritual and social transformation, by spreading spiritual holiness and investing in medical-health services and social-economic welfare of the people. The church has established various institutions like the leprosy centre, three mentally ill-destitute centres, and an orphanage centre, for children orphaned by HIV/AIDS. These centres reach out to the rejected and less privileged members of society. They also ensure reintegration of those previously treated as outcast and subjected to various societal abuses. In the area of health MCN has established the Wesley Guild Hospital and several Methodist hospitals spread over the country which provide good healthcare services in their environments. In addition to all other services MCN has from the beginning placed a very strong emphasis on the need for education. Throughout the country the church has established numerous schools, from kindergarten through primary to senior secondary schools and theological institutions which have produced men and women who have contributed and are still contributing very significantly to all spheres of human endeavour. The decision has now been taken to establish the Wesley University of Science and Technology (WUSTO) in Ondo, south-western area of Nigeria, with satellite campuses in the six geo-political zones of the country. The Methodist Church Nigeria is headed by the prelate, who presides over the conference, the overall governing body of the church. This conference meets every two years to deliberate and take decisions on all issues affecting the life of the church. The conference area is divided into eleven archdioceses. Each archdiocese is composed of not less than four dioceses over which an archbishop presides at the archdiocesan council meetings. There are 50 dioceses, each made up of a number of circuits and headed by a bishop who presides over the annual synod. The constitution of the church provides for lay participation in the leadership of the church from the local church through to conference level. Worthy is the lamb! Halleluyah |

DAILY REFLECTION SATURDAY 31ST MARCH, 2018 THEME: AT ONE'S BEST TEXT: PSALM 39:1-6 MEMORY VERSE: PSALMS 39:2b"I will keep my mouth with a bridle while the wicked is before me." At a point in one's lifetime, one is at an independent disposition, a time one decides to embrace life whatever the situation may be. The psalmist decides to bridle his tongue for good or for bad; keep his mouth from uttering good or bad words: whatever the level of sorrow he undergoes, he will not complain or misuse his tongue. The psalmist was completely penitent; he surrenders himself to his God to do what He likes The thesis of King David in today's text can be tersely put: Be watchful and disciplined. If an evil thought should arise in your mind, suppress it. Watchfulness in the habit is through the disciplining of the head. Cumulative effects of habits bring about character while watchfulness in acts can lead to application of Christian virtues in one's life What presents a man to the outside world? What a man says sells him out. It is the projection of what he conceives and it is what a man conceives that he delivers. Jesus says in Matt. 12:34b that ".out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks." People around us watch us and listen to our words and turn them, if they can, to our disadvantage in derision. Christ as his best model. He uttered no filthy statement nor allowed evil thoughts to draw Him back from the task ahead of Him -to save souls. Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane was distressed and sorrowful because He knew the time had come for Him to die. Even though He was weary, He said "My Father, if it is possible let this cup pass from me, nevertheless, not as | will but as You will" (Matt. 26:39). He triumphed over evil thought and became the excellent Way to the Kingdom of God. HYMN: MHB 491 - CHRISTIAN, SEEK NOT YET REPOSE.. PRAYER: Grant us. Merciful God, the grace to be our best in the face of any hardship in Jesus name we pray. Amen. |

Daily Reflection. 2nd April 2018 THEME: BORN OF GOD TEXT:1 JOHN 3: 1-9 MEMORY VERSE: 1 JOHN 3:1 How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we arel The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him." (NIV) When a person is born into a family, his or her physical stature, character traits, etc. will normally reflect that of the family because of the gene of the family in him. In the midst of a crowd, you can identify a person as belonging to a particular family -he or she carries the gene and so resembles them in stature. words and deed. . We are children born of God, because God's seed remains in us. God's seed here (like the gene in man) produces the nature and character of God in the believer. We shall be lik Jesus. The character of God which we will manifest in our daily life as believers are0) Righteousness (ii) Holiness (ii) Love (iv) Joy in the Holy Ghost, etc. The believers were first called Christians in Antioch whern the people observed their way of life. They noted that the people had been with Jesus. They saw the risen Christ in Peter, John, James and concluded that Christ is living in themn. Christians carry the image of God and showcase Christ everywhere, every time. They do not continue to live in sin and in disobedience to God. Instead, they live above sin and the world. Verse8 of today's passage makes it clear that he who sins is of the devil. for the devil has sinned from the beginning. Whoever you are, clergy, or lay, Church leader or ordinary member, man or woman, if you are still living in secret sins, even when you proclaim Christ in the public, you belong to the devil and you are not yet born of God. Can I ask you now? Who are you? Will you waste the precious love of God that was lavished for you? Will you waste your years on earth, doing God's work and waste the precious love of God that was lavished for you? Will you waste your years on earth, doing God's work and later end up in hell? The choice is yours to make today. HYMN: MHB 422 - BLESSED ASSURANCE. JESUS IS MINE PRAYER: Lord Jesus, I thank you for Your love lavished on me. Help me as Your child to live and overcome sin and the world. Amen. |

asuustrike2009:Thank you for the question. Methodist and Anglican are like brothers, United in serving One God, Their doctrines are 75% the same, They both take the Eucharist, child baptism, adult confirmation, have lay preachers /readers, recognize bishophood ,lovers of hymn, they are both orthodox etc The difference noticed in both denominations is that Anglicans are more into chanting during prayers while Methodists don't do that except during holy communion prayers, Anglicans have young boys who help the priests in the alter like catholic, Methodist don't practice that. But all the same, A Methodist can assimilate well into Anglican the same way an Anglican can assimilate well into Methodist. God bless the Methodist Church God bless the Anglican Church Amen. DAILY REFLECTION TUESDAY 3RD APRIL 2018 THEME: GIFT OF GOD TEXT JOHN 4:]-114 MEMORY VERSE: JOHN 4: 26"Jesus said to her, "l who speak to you am He" (NKJV). Water is one of the essential needs of life. It is used for various things- drinking, cooking, washing of clothes, etc. It is even said that water forms about 75 per cent of the world. Jesus, by divine arrangement, passed by the well in our text on His way from Judea to Galilee. The well was situated at a place called Sychar (Suchar or Shechem) where He met Samaritan woman who wanted to draw water from the well but was waiting for the well to be opened. Jesus asked her to give Him water to drink. This question led to a dialogue between Jesus and the Samaritan woman whose |ife Jesus revealed to her as it was. In verse 9 of the text, the woman asks: "How is it that Thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me which am a woman of Samaria?"Jesus answered, "lf Thou knewest the gift of God, and it is that saith to thee Gjve me to drink: thou wouldest have asked of him and He would have given thee living water." What are the gifts of God? (i) Jesus Christ (ii) Holy Spirit (ii) Spiritual gifts (iv) Eternal life (v) Ministers of God (vi) Divine gifts (vii) Grace (vii) Living water (ix) God's word (x) the glory of God (xi) Peace (xii) the bread of life (xiii) Holy Spirit (xiv) Jesus Christ (xv) Spiritual gifts- pronhecy. teachina. speaking in tongue. Have you any of these gifts? How are you using them for the edification of the body of Christ? There is nobody who has no gift. Some have as many as possible but it is not the possession of the gift that matters but how the gifts are used. The woman in this text has the gift of evangelism which she effectively used. Whatever gift you have, Beloved, use it well for the glory of God. You will give account of your stewardship before the Lord on the Day of Reckoning. HYMN: MHB 339 COME, O THOU TRAVELLER UNKNOWN PRAYER: Beloved Son of God, while on others Thou art calling, do not pass me |

DAILY REFLECTON WEDNESDAY 4TH PRIL 2018 THEME: HUMILITY TO THE CROSS TEXT: PHILIPPIANS2:1-11 MEMORY VERSE: PHILIPPIANS 2:8 "And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death- even death on a cross!"(NIV) HYMN: EMHB 182 -WHEN SURVEY THE WONDEROUS CROSS Some years ago in Nigeria, during the military rule, a state military administrator one day disguised himself and rode on an "Okada" motorcycle, in the state capital to a particular street. "Jesus Christ who, being in the very nature of God, did not consider equality with God but made Himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death- even death on the cross (Philippians 2:6-. Jesus, who is the Creator and sustainer of the universe, emptied Himself and became man. He experienced hunger, pain, sorrow joy, etc., like every other man on earth. As a result of His humility, He allowed ordinary men to insult, flog, judge, condemn Him to death and finally crucified Him on the Cross. He did not put any form of resistance to all these. Humility is for one to be oneself of every form of glory, considering others better than oneself. It is accepting the form and nature of a servant in the family, church and to your your seniors, juniors, colleagues, subordinates, mates, etc. A humble person is prepared to suffer injustice, denial of rights and privileges only to ensure that God's name is honoured and glorified in every situation. Humility is a prerequisite in enjoying peace in our homes, offices, the church and the society at large. The absence of it brings unnecessary competition, envy, wickedness and destruction. Pride brings disgrace (Proverbs 11:2 and 16:18) Humility exalts a highly exalted by God and given every other name. In Matthew 5:5 Jesus said" Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. PRAYER: Lord Jesus, increase in me that l may decrease and serve You in humility all the days of my life. Amen. |

DAILY REFLECTION THURSDAY 5TH APRIL, 2018 THEME: THE EMMAUS DISCOURSE TEXT: LUKE 24:28-49 MEMORY VERSE: LUKE 24:36 'While they were still talking about this, Jesus Himself stood among them and said to them: "Peace be with you."' Today's text is about two of the appearances of Jesus Christ to His disciples individually and collectively. Two unnamed disciples of Jesus were on their way to Emmaus, about 13km from Jerusalem, and Jesus Christ joined and participated in their discussion concerning His gruesome murder of a man whom they thought would be the Saviour of the world. They did not know that Jesus Christ was the One walking with them. Jesus allowed the Emmaus-road disciples to display their ignorance because they had forgotten all He told them earlier about Himself, His death and resurrection and the end of age when He was with them. Even when Jesus tells us "I am with you always" in the power of the Holy Spirit, we care less about His words. All the thoughts which disquiet our minds rise from the mistaken identity of Christ we carry upon our hearts. Be it known to you that all your anxieties are known to Him. Jesus Christ manifested Himself to the disciples in the echoes of His words "Peace be unto you." He also performed His usual act when He was with them in the flesh as He blessed the bread, broke it before them and gave it to them. Their inner minds were opened. And one said to the other: "Did not our heart burn within us?" Instantly, their joy was restored and they were thereafter charged to witness about Christ to the world (Matt. 28: 18-20; Mk 16: 15; John 20: 21). The disciples, during the crucifixion, were hopeless and dumb-founded in the first instance. They ran away from the scene of crucifixion. The unresolved issue in their hearts kept their hearts burning. Many a time, like the disciples, we worry about sundry issues. Most often our worries becloud our horizon to the extent that we forget that Jesus Christ is in the midst of the problems we have. Our communion with Christ will surely give us eternal joy and a hope of glory in His Kingdom where we will continually behold His face if we remain steadfast in Him. There will be no sorrow, nor gnashing of teeth anymore! HYMN: MHB 501 – PEACE PERFECT PEACE, IN THIS DARK WORLD OF SIN PRAYER: Omnipotent God, reveal Your mighty power to us and open our eyes to behold Your presence at all times in our lives in Jesus' name. Amen |
