Bayelsa state is one of the most backward states educationally and otherwise, Only better than a few northern states.
A governor that has his people at heart would further slash the cost of education but Mr governor in his "wisdom" has decided to act like Rehoboam-heap more coals on the people.
Quite appalling.

Following the promiscuous hike in the fees levied on it's students by the Bayelsa state owned university, the Niger Delta University, there has been a lot of uproar amongst members of the student community as well as parents and guardians.
Some parents describe the act as a deliberate act of the state government and the school management to frustrate the students, parents and guardians, others describe it as a means of exploitation....
Owing to the fact that the so-called "Restoration government " in assumption of office, declared a state of emergency in the education sector... So far we've not seen any reasonable improvement in the sector... After succeeding to frustrate stated owned primary schools out of operation in the state, we fear the Niger Delta University will suffer tye same fate...
How can they ask students in 200Level to pay another whooping 110k after struggling to pay the same amount in their first year...?
Where do they expect them to get the moneys? In an economy where the minimum wage is merely 18k, how many parents are gainfully employed? Even the ones working in various government Sectors are being owed back logs of salaries...
This time the students are not taking it, we are pained, our parents are pained... I am therefore urging you all to join us on Monday as we stage s peaceful protest to make our grievances known...

The standard of education is falling, yet students are asked to pay exorbitant fees. This is unacceptable for a government owned tertiary institution.

Give this some recognition too.
