1. Wash your hair once a week and let it air-dry.
2. Apply hair oil daily. Consider using a protein conditioner.
3. Try taking vitamins and eating more protein, drink plenty water.
4. Trim the damaged ends off every two weeks.
5. Limit the heat styling, or avoid it altogether.
6. Loose braids can be more beneficial and less damaging than tight, excessive braiding.
7. Try box braids, as they allow natural hair to grow.
8. The heat from flat irons and blow dryers will cause your hair to be coarse and dry. Use silicone-free heat protection products prior to use.
9. Eat healthy food, exercise and drink a lot of water. Only massage your scalp with argan or coconut oil if needed. You can also use castor oil.
10. Don't twist your hair out.
Even if you are using a product for damaged hair, you may still need to trim off your split ends.
All black hair is different and should be treated as such.

Trim your split ends every two weeks? Definitely not. Average African hair grows at 0.5inces a month. When we trim, we take out about 0.5 to 1 inch of hair. If we trim every two weeks that leaves us with no hair at all. Hair should be trimmed regularly between 4 to 6 months.
