Apologies if the title doesn't do justice to my write-up. Actually took me a while to get a title! Lol

Since this year's edition of BBNaija started, a lot of people on the internet especially here on Nairaland have been against it. Whenever a thread of the reality tv show is being pushed to "Front Page", you see many people pouring out their anger about the show on the thread. It's okay if you don't like the show, but it doesn't mean others won't like it.

BBNaija have actually helped the previous housemates. Think about it, who would have known Efe if not for BBNaija. Would he have won N25million if not for the show? Miracle won N45million in total. Would he have been this popular if not for the show? Even housemates who didn't win the competition, have in one way or the other made some money from being part of the show.

You could say the Show organizers are Thiefs. Reason being that they are collecting N30 per vote from Nigerians. There was a rumour last year, that the show promoters made N300million from the show. Ask yourself is that the business model of most companies? Taking from A, B, C, D, E, F & G, then giving a fraction of it to H.

Take for example, a football club Manchester United. Their fans pay money to go watch the team play and at the end of the season, who makes the most money? Isn't it the club owners?

People playing Bet9ja, what do you think is the business model of Betting. The money you lose playing Bet9ja, someone somewhere won a fraction of that money. While Bet9ja takes the rest home.

Even some guys bashing this BBNaija show, still visit viewing centres in their areas to watch Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal play. They pay up to N100 to watch their favorite team play. And at the end of the day, do they get anything in return? Except fun or joy right?

Well, the people also watching BBNaija and voting for their favorite contestant also enjoy doing it. Nobody forced them to watch or vote. They're simply doing it from their own free will. Everybody are not wired the same way. We all have the freedom to choose what we want. You can't take their freedom away from them.

Zaheer (a villian in Legend of Korra) said "You think freedom is something you can take or give on a whim. But to your people freedom is just as essential as Air. And without it, there is no life. There is only Darkness." He said this to a dictating/tyrant Queen in the anime series.

Freedom is just as essential as air. If we keep calling out people who like the show. Then we are no different from the tyrants in our government, who we are fighting hard to get rid off.

To the aspect of the immorality of the show. The show is rated 18+ for a reason right? That alone is self-explanatory. Take social media as an example, Social media have made a whole lot of people wayward such as the trending slay queen stuffs and all that. But at the same time, People have become millionaires through social media. Will you now say social media should not exist because of its disadvantages? I THINK the housemates were not forced to show their nudity. They did that willingly.

Moving on from that, some people will say the show is distracting our youths from getting their PVCs. And also focusing on the issues the country is facing.

BBNaija returned last year 2017. Please before 2017 was Nigeria in good shape? Are things not getting worse by the day? And can you boldly hit your chest and say without BBNaija in 2017 and 2018, Nigeria would have been better?

The show doesn't stop anybody from getting their PVCs. People who watch BBNaija also go to work, they go to their shops, they handle their daily businesses. And still have time to watch the show. Anybody that doesn't have its PVC or hasn't gone to collect it, can not say it's because of BBNaija.

We all praise the USA and other Western countries, cause of their development et al. We all WISH Nigeria could be like that. But we forget that most Americans don't reason the way we do. Do you know how many reality tv shows are in America?

A fellow Nairalander said "The difference between whites that are developed and blacks that are underdeveloped, is that the whites have accepted that as humans we are bound to make errors so when our fellow men do, we try to correct him. But the black men thought we are perfect and when a fellow black man commits an error, the blacks tries to shame him. You can never sow like an eagle if you keep looking down on other birds."

You have the freedom not to like the show. Just don't pour out all your frustration on the show and those that watch it. Keep living your life and let others live theirs.
