On a night all about his achievements, Mohamed Salah remained admirably keen to make it a team effort.

Sunday’s PFA Awards ceremony saw the Egyptian propelled into the spotlight as he was named Players’ Player of the Year.

It marked deserved recognition for the wingers astonishing 41-goal haul in his first season back in England and testament to the extent of the feat given his ability to fend off competition from Manchester City’s consistently majestic Kevin De Bruyne.

Salah was accompanied by club captain Jordan Henderson, for what many believed was standard procedure for the occasion.

As it happens, the skipper’s attendance was on the request of Salah as a means of sharing the honour with the entire club, as explained by official club journalists James Carroll.
