Facebook on Tuesday released its rule book stating the types of posts allows on its social networking site. The company outlined in details what its permit on subjects such as drug use, sex, hate speech and inciting violence. Containing about 8,000 words, Facebook detailed each category, identified the words and images that its sometimes censors.

Facebook policy before now, prohibits the buying or selling of prescription drugs, marijuana or firearms on the social network. Speaking Monika Bickert, Vice President of Global Policy Management at Facebook gave reason for the guidelines.

He said;

We decided to publish these internal guidelines for two reasons, First, the guidelines will help people understand where we draw the line on nuanced issues. Second, providing these details makes it easier for everyone, including experts in different fields, to give us feedback so that we can improve the guidelines – and the decisions we make – over time

Also not allowed are

Posting of graphic videos without a warning sign
Content in which someone “admits to personal use of non-medical drugs
Harassment and bullying
Display of fully nude or close-up of somebody’s buttocks
The company uses both technical and human moderators to check what users shares on the site. When they are found to violate its policies, there are taken down by its team of reviewers with reasons. Bickert also said Facebook, is

We are working to extend this process further, by supporting more violation types, giving people the opportunity to provide more context that could help us make the right decision.

The publication of the rules is coming at weeks of backlash as a result of the Cambridge Analytica scandal. Facebook announced that it has removed 1.9 million terrorism content from its platform. The figure according to the social media giant reflect just the first quarter of 2018 which is almost twice the figure of 2017. It is planning a series of public forums in May and June in different countries to get more feedback on its rules.
