My fellow nairalander this is my first topic on this site don't mind my errors.
The main reason behind this topic is for all nairalander to keep sharing anything that happen to them so that many people will benefit from it, I was inspire by a post here on nairaland the topic was HOW A CUSTOMER STOOD IS GRAND WITH NEPA. The story was all about how this NEPA people overbill the guy and how he successfully make them reduce the bill and beg him for forgiveness.

The same thing happen to me though the house I stayed was built around September 2017 and they registered with the IBEDC on October, since then we kept using light and no bill was allocated to us not until February this people came and told us when next they are coming we will be given a bill of #2000 accepted. The following week they came and wrote #3000 me with my neighbors were like you people promised #2000 why #3000, The guy that lead the squad collected the bill and change it to #6000. I was like somebody wake me up, we kept dragging the matter because they insist we pay that very day or else they disconnect the light, we were light we can't pay #6000 you promised us #2000 and this is it. Before I call Jack they have disconnected the light after much begging that they should connect the light we are going to pay the bill the following week they agreed and told us to pay reconnection fee of #2000 before they can connect the light.

I was like you people brought bill today, you disconnected the light today and you are insist we pay reconnection fee of #2000 before u can connect the light that very day this is unfair, After intervention of some other neighbor they agreed we pay #1000, we paid the #1000 and they connected the light. The following week one of my neighbors went to their office at Ogijo- omoleye (sorry for not indicating where i stay, I stayed at Ita-saani area under sagamu local government Ogun state, Its along the old Lagos to Ibadan Road) and explain the matter to one of their boss that one told him we should deduct the #1000 from the #6000 and pay #5000 accepted. That same week I went to their office and pay one of the cashier was like you can pay #5000 you have to pay everything on the bill, I told him I was instructed to do so by one of their boss, she later collected the money from me and write #5000 she circled it and write paid.

The following month they brought another bill of #3000 meanwhile it suppose to be #2000, I was like how much is #3000 we will pay. On 23/04/2018 they came for disconnection I told the one that lead them sir the money on grand now is #2000 can you please give us grace till tomorrow I will go and pay the bill at the office , he was like if the money did not complete #3000 they should cut the light down, Before I know what is happening the wire is down already meanwhile have not even collect a penny from my neighbors because you know Ogun state do copy Lagos and my side is very close to Lagos me and some of my neighbors may not see throughout a month due to the kind of job we do, One of my neighbors that was at home that very day was the one that gave me #1500 me myself added #500, That neighbor of mine was very angry that after we wanted to pay #2000 and promised to pay #3000 the following day, she told me to go to their office that very day and pay the #2000, I went their and explain the matter on ground to one of their marketer as directed by their boss because he was busy with another customer, that one to told me I cannot pay #2000 that tomorrow is not far I should come back tomorrow accepted but during those time I was at their office I recorded all what happen. One my way going home I lost the bill with the money(#2000) I was very pissed I need to go back and check for the but I couldn't find it the cost of transport to their office go and come was #300 (300*2=600). I reach house I can't tell my neighbors I lost the bill, I just told them to contribute the #3000 + #2000(reconnection fee) making #5000 they contributed the money and I went their the following day 24/04/2018.

At their office the following day, I went upstairs and told one man I met that I lost my bill, i show him the bill on my phone( I do snap the bill anytime they brought it and after I paid) he wrote another one for me, I went downstairs and paid the money to the cashier (#3000) I told her I want to pay reconnection fee she told me I can't pay it at their office that I should call the person that disconnected it and give him the, money I told her I don't have the guy number, the other cashier collected the bill and checked the name on it, he called the man that i wanted to pay reconnection fee, After the call the second cashier gave me his number and told me that the man is at my area I should go and give the money to him. I went upstairs I told the man I met the previous day that I want to pay reconnection fee and I need receipt he wrote it on another bill that I should go downstairs and pay, I told him I was their early that the cashier said u can't pay the money at their office, he told me to pay it through POS, I went to the cashier back and told her I wanted to pay through POS she collected the money paid it and told me I think am smart that did I expect those guys to use their money to collect ladder and reconnect the light for me, I was like that one didn't consign me are not not provide with amenities( I recorded her voice she wasn't aware).

I came out of their office checked the post I mentioned for guidelines after that browse through google I copied the IBEDC Headquarter email and Contact I did the same on NERC website, I pulled a call through to the IBEDC customers care line and ask them the duration for connecting of light the lady told me the light would be fix instantly, I went home and called the guy that disconnected the light that have paid, he said I should call him back that the network is bad meanwhile he heard all what I say, throughout that day 24/04/2018 the light was not fix.
The following day 25/04/2018 one of my neighbors called my around 11am at work she told me the light have not been fix, I called the guy again I told him bros the light has not fixed he told me they would come that very day, I called NERC customers care line and ask about the reconnection period I was told 24hour maximum.
I tried to call the guy back (the one that disconnected the light) in the evening he kept my call busy meanwhile one of my neighbors saw him at the second street where he kept ranting that he wouldn't connect our light till the following week, he is the one in charge of my area, He can Do and Undo that we think we are smart to go pay reconnection fee at their office.

On 26/04/2018 I wrote a letter and explain everything that happen, I told them I have many evidence like Voice record and the bills, I attached the first bill, the second one and the reconnection fee payment bill with my subject (ILLEGAL COLLECTION OF MONEY AND RECONNECTION FEE) and send it to IBEDC Headquarter email indicating that NERC are interested in the case. Within an hour I got a mail from them telling me they are sorry for the inconvenience they might have cause that I should sent the house Account Number, Service Address and my Contact, I send it to them.

I closed from work 12pm went home the light has not been fix, I went inside to sleep in order for me to prepare for my night duty by 7pm, something 2:40 I received a call through the line I gave them( I don't give them my main line due to some fact ZUBY77 can explain) I was told they receive a mail from their Headquarter that can I come down to their office and settle the matter, I told the man that called me (which I later realized was the one that head the ogijo- ile oba branch) that he can't expect me to waste my transport coming their after I came twice already, he asked me whether the light has been fixed I went outside to check and told him no,he said he would call me back, I went back inside and continue my sleep.
At something after 4pm their Boss called me again and ask if the light has been fixed that he is very close to my house, I told him he should let me check, I went outside and the light has been fix I replied him the light has been fixed, at that very time a car parked in front of my house and two men highlight the man that called (Their Boss) and the one that disconnected the light ( I indicate his name inside the mail I sent) I was asked by the boss what rely happened that he received a main from their branch head at Sagamu to investigate the matter and report back before 5pm, I told him all the story while I was record the voice through my phone, I told him NERC called me that if they didn't connect the light that day I should get back to them.
The man kept begging me that the single mail I sent have caused serious trouble, he gave his number and told me if anything happen after I should call him, The man that disconnected the light was not allow to talk, I check time we have being discussing the matter for almost 50 Minutes. They apologize one more time and left.
