They seem like yam mounds on a meticulous farmer's field. But they're not ridges or any seed mounds; they're human graves. The 647 of them, killed in 4 months.
Benue is now littered with corpses, bodies are daily thrown into the earth like yam tubers in farmer's hand. How the food basket of the nation is now carrying dead bodies.
Darkness in the land!
Bullets raining down like raindrops, bodies falling down like mangoes.
Farmers wheelbarrows are laden to the brim, not with grains or fruits, but with dead bodies, feet and hands dangling.
They're invaded and ambushed, they cry in vain for help. Houses are raised down; churches are desecrated, and the land is soaked in blood.
Children become orphans and parents become childless; widows and widowers run for their lives; no one to mourn the dead.
Nation in turmoil!
