Eczema is the inflammation of skin causing itching, redness, and minute papules. Atopic dermatitis is the most common type of eczema. Atopic means those diseases that are inherited and can develop other allergic conditions, such as bronchitis, asthma and hay fever.

Eczema can affect any part of the body, causing the skin to appear very dry and reddish. This skin condition begins at the time of birth and continues till childhood. In some people it continues till adulthood. This disease is inherited by child if a parent has had it or other atopic disease. Environmental factors such as hot weather, high and low humidity causes eczema.

Home Remedies to Get Rid of Eczema Naturally

Use oatmeal
The inflammation of the skin can be lowered using oatmeal because of its anti-inflammatory properties. It helps to remove dirt from the skin and increases the skin moisture. It also helps in removing scars from eczema. Take 50 grams of oatmeal crush it to fine powder and mix it with the warm bath water in your tub. Bath for a week or more to get better results.

Jojoba Oil
Jojoba oil is not really in oil form, but a liquid wax. It is rich in moisture and penetrates the skin from inside, and its chemical structure is similar of all the oils to that of our skin’s natural oil. It is made up of acids that are long chain fatty acids. Pour a few drops on your hand and apply to affected area. Gently massage it into your skin until it disappears. You can apply 2-3 times daily.

Glycerin
The main component of soap and other moisturizer is glycerin. There are two types of glycerin – regular and vegetable glycerin. Regular is made from animal fats. Vegetable glycerin comes from coconut and palm oil and it is 99% pure. This glycerine helps in providing moisture to dry skin during Eczema. It fills the gap in dry and dehydrated skin. Take a spray bottle, add vegetable glycerine and filter water mixture into it. Use 2-2 ratio of glycerin and water, and give it a shake. Spray on the affected area of your body. You can use this mixture regularly after 3 to 4 hours during the day.

Coconut Oil
Coconut oil contains fats and moisture which heals eczema rapidly by going deep into the skin and filling gaps between skin. Coconut oil is a good example of hydrating agent. It has properties to fight bacteria and heal the inflammation. Using a cotton swab or your fingertips, take a few drops of coconut oil and apply it on the affected area before going to sleep. Rinse affected area softly in the morning. Repeat the process regularly until results become visible.

Fish Oil
Fish oil is rich in N-6 and N-3 fatty acids, which are important for smooth and healthy skin. The skin loses these fatty acids in eczema attack, which are provided back by fish oil. Taking daily dose will help to recover faster. Fish oil can be taken in the form of capsules or in liquid form.

Epsom Salt Bath
Epsom salt also called magnesium sulfate is easily absorbed by the skin to give relief to pain and redness of skin. It is reasonably low in cost. Fill your bath tub with warm water, add 1-2 cups of Epsom salt and soak in this for 15-30 minutes. Drink a good amount of water after Epsom Salt bath. Improvement should be visible in few days.

Turmeric Paste
Turmeric is widely used for different diseases including skin problems. It contains Curcumin that has anti-septic and anti-inflammatory properties. It works by dehydrating the pores. Take a bowl, add 2 tablespoon of turmeric powder and mix it with water to form a paste. Apply this paste to the affected parts. Leave it for one hour or the whole night. Rinse off with water next morning.

Baking Soda
Baking soda helps to reduce inflammation and itching because of its anti-inflammatory properties. Add half cup of baking soda in a bathtub filled with warm water. Soak your body in this water for 10 to 20 minutes. Also, you can add two spoons of baking soda in a bowl. Pour enough water to make a thick paste. Apply the paste on the Eczema area. Wait for a few minutes before cleaning it off with warm water.

Potters Clay Paste
Clay helps in removing the dead cells and dirt on the skin. This dirt causes a blockage in the pores, causing Eczema to appear on skin. Clay absorbs the extra oil of oil glands. It also helps to stop the over-drying of your skin and keep the skin moisturized. Take a bowl, add two teaspoons each of potters clay and rose water. Apply the paste on your affected area where Eczema is present. Wash it after it dries up. Repeat the process thrice daily.

Chamomile
Chamomile lowers the swelling, itchiness, and cures spots that have been scratched. Wrap the chamomile in muslin cloth or towel. Fill the bathtub half and then tie the towel in it so the bath water runs directly over it. Fill the tub full or you can drop the towel directly in the tub. Soak your body for fifteen minutes and then softly pat yourself dry with a cloth. Apply your regular moisturizer afterwards. You can try combining oatmeal and chamomile for best results.
